I won't give you the answer, but I'll help...

a percent is a ratio, where the denominator is always 100. So to turn a percent into an actual decimal number you can work with, you divide it by 100. Effectively, you move the decimal two places to the left, and drop the %.

So 25% becomes 25/100 or 1/4 or .25

Its okay if your percent is over 100, that just means you'll end up with a number over 1 when you convert. (eg 150% = 1.5)


in math problems the word "of" can be translated into "times" or multiplication.

so if you were asked to find 25% of 8, you would convert the percentage to a decimal:

25/100 = .25

so it would become .25 of 8.

then, like I said, "of" becomes "times"

so: .25 x 8 = 2

Now, go apply that to your homework.

Percent just means part of 100. Remove the % sign, divide the percentage number by 100, then multiply by the other "of" number.

97.6% of 91 means 97.6/100 x 91 = .976 x 91 = 88.8

I've set up the others so you can do your own math. The next one only looks a little tricky because the percentage is more than 100%, so the answer will be bigger than 39, not less than 39. But you still do the process the same way as I stated above.

304% of 39 means 304/100 x 39

29% of 3077 means 29/100 x 3077
