I am doing a Renaissance project for my class. My subject is Caravaggio, Michelangelo Merisi da-the famous italian painter. I have to do a 3D exhibit that is like a museum about him. The size of the project is about 24x12x12-a typical box. We are not allowed to use pictures off the internet-any suggestions for a different way to get the pictures? Also, any suggestions for other things to use to signify his life or his work? Please keep in mind that buying a lot of materials is not good.

i would suggest going to the library and photocopying the paintings from a book (give credit to your sources!) and coloring the black and white photos with colored pencils, etc. all you have to do is get on your local library's website and do a search for caravaggio books and then go and check them out. present the photocopies like a gallery exhibit. there's also a lost caravaggio and perhaps you could do part of your project on that. here's a link to various books about caravaggio.

to the third poster: she is doing a project on michelangelo merisi da caravaggio NOT michelangelo di lodovico buonarroti simoni (most famously the painter of the SISTINE CHAPEL and the sculptor of the david).

I'd recommend going to a library and copying some pictures out of books (with sources of course). Check out books including his artwork and perhaps a biography on his life. Without using the internet, a public or school library is the best way to go.

Cheaper than photocopying, buy and cut-up (heresy!?) a second-hand book on Caravaggio.
Extra bonus, it will come with text too.

I put a search in with the key words "Caravaggio" "Illustrated" at the advanced book exchange and got several possibles, assuming you are in the USA.

" Profusely illustrated in color. Biography of Caravaggio, accompanied by his paintings and the stories behind them." $6. (plus postage)

If you want to go for the extra credit, get a copy of the sisteen chapple and paint your box yourself from looking at it. if you aren't a good artist, you can just put a black and white copy in there and paint over it.
