Different areas/states have different popular names. I have a very popular name for my age group but I don't mind. I did when I was in High school and there were 14 Amanda's in my grade but the older I got the more I came to enjoy my name. I think you should name you kid whatever you feel like. True if you name you kid Snickerdoodle you may have a unique name but you may also have a kid who is made fun of or their name is always misspelled. Just because I share my name with others doesn't make me less of an individual. People often tell me my kids names are common or popular but I don't care because I like them. Think about High school did a name make a person? Not unless it was a last name associated with money.

No I won't name my child something that common. How can you be an individual if everyone else shares your name? The same goes for the name Nevaeh. I am so sick of that name. When I was in school there was a girl who had the same first middle and last name as me. We ended up being called by numbers instead of our names.

BTW just read your new details B. Spears kids names are Sutton Pierce and Jayden James Federline

They don't realize it until they've picked the name.

My aunt was finally pregnant after trying for years. She wanted an unusual name. She decided on Aiden because she had never known anyone else named Aiden. I told her it is not unusual at all and actually a very popular name. By then she was set on it. Oh well. I don't think it's that big of a deal. :-)

It actually won't matter because when they grow up, their name takes on their personality. It only seems to matter when they are little because everyone comes up to you and says.."Oh how cute..what's his name"? I don't recall anyone doing that since my son has grown up...maybe a few teenage girls...lol.. How many people do you know that have the same name? Do you look at them like they are both the same person? I use to babysit 4 little girls and they were all named Ashley...but I didn't relate their names to each other at all because they were all different. Funny...my daughter just told me a couple of days ago she always wanted to name her baby Aiden..better let her know!

Typically names become popular because of some public figure or just become people. When naming their, people don't normally think about how many other people are giving their children that name, they're choosing a name that they like. When I was growing, every other girl I knew was named Ashley or Brittany. It was an extremely popular name around the time that I was born.

Simply, for the same reason there are so many people out there named John, David, Brian, etc. At my previous job at a bank, we had three guys named Brian working there at the same time, with only 22 employees at the branch. I knew someone named Brett who hadn't heard his name used for someone else until he was 18, then suddenly he knew five other people with the same name.

I know what you mean, but I like the name Caden and it is becoming very popular. I named my son Cade, though. Britney Spears' sons are name Sean Preston and Jayden James.

i prefer unique names. Once a name starts becoming to popular I do not like it anymore. I do not get why people name their kid something so common. I do not want my kid to be like everyone else. This world would be boring if we were all like everyone else.

i guess maybe for the same reason people continue to name their children Michael, or Jessica, or any other popular name! They either want it to be popular, or they just really still like it, and don't care if others use it! i personally would not try to be like everyone else..when i had my son, i named him Caleb, because it was uncommon and now every other boy has the same name??

I suppose this name is well liked. Also, there is a character on one of the soaps whose name is Aiden...he is gorgeous! Perhaps both of these suggestions answer this question??
