That shouldn't happen.
Since you had this upgrade recently done, take it beck to the vendor and scream blue murder. If you don't get irate, they won't do anything about it. It's their duty to fix it for you.
Cheers!

You'll probably want to post more of your computer's specs. Because unfortunately, the amount of ram in your PC is not the only factor which contributes to the speed at which your computer receives information.. processes it.. and then spits it back out.
Think of it like when you try playing an online game. You can have a really powerful computer, but if you're on dial-up, you're still only going to be able to get gaming data at 56kbps--which will probably tick off a lot of your teammates, since you'll be lagging a whole lot of the time.
You may have upgraded the ram in your PC to 1GB, but that alone won't prevent issues such as bottlenecking to occur due to a slow frontside bus speed. When it comes to computers, there are a few factors which contibute to the overall feel of speed when it comes to how fast a computer appears. For example:
A fast hardrive will decrease the amount of loading times when starting up some software.
A good graphics card will decrease the amount of time it takes for a computer to render graphics, etc.
A fast processor will allow for fast computations, but only after it has received the data from your computers components, and this coupled with a fast buses, a good amount of memory with a decent clock rate, and decent cache sizes will give the feel of a blazing fast computer.
Of course, these are all hardware based answers... I am going to assume that you have already gone through steps such as defragging your hardrive, etc.

Suggest you run through the following checklist:
- A lot of RAM is used by wallpaper and/or a screensaver full of graphics. They run in the background and consume memory. (I have only 512mb RAM, run multiple programs simultaneously, and have set my wallpaper and screensaver to blank.)
- How many programs do you load at startup? Maybe you should check it out and ensure you are running just what you need on a daily basis. For anything else you can wait a minute until it loads.
To do this: cl Start, cl Settings, cl Taskbar and Start Menu.
cl Start Menu, cl Customize, cl Remove.
cl the icon for the program you wish to remove
then cl Remove.
There is also a “Disable All” button.
This will prevent the program from loading at startup, but will not remove the program from the hard disk.
When you are working in a large file, save frequently to restore full memory access. (Your work remains in memory until you “save” it to disk.)
Did you run an error check? Open My Computer,
Right-cl on C:, Select Properties, Tools – Run an Error Check ( checkmark “check all and fix); then run a Defrag
Run antispy and ad-aware programs. A free ad-aware program can be downloaded at:
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
From IE, click Tools, Internet Options
delete cookies
delete files (offline files)
clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want)
click o.k., and Restart
Stop Autocomplete / Remove Passwords
Tools
Internet Options
Content tab
Autocomplete
cl Settings
clear the boxes to remove autocomplete
Delete Autocomplete History
click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools – run Disk Cleanup
click Start, Run ipconfig renew (type ipconfig space renew)
All these things should be done regularly. The more frequently they are run, the less time they take.
Note: I don’t do games – games and videos are mostly graphics. Graphics create large files.
If all these things don’t help, you should consider getting more memory.

This should be a fast pc,for sure. However, loading programs is mostly a function of the hard drive. So more ram does not speed that up. What you should notice is that when you work in the programs they should be faster. If not, then look at your cpu utilization using Windows Task Master (called up with Ctrl-alt-del) If there is lots of cpu being used, then look for spyware and viruses. Also, look at the Processes to see what stuff is running at the same time. Sometimes a bunch of stuff loads up that you do not need and which uses memory. Good luck.

When this happens to me (about once a year or so) I do a complete format and reinstall! That always speeds it right back up to really fast!
The more Cr@p you have on your computer the slower it gets & sometimes the best fix is to format and reinstall..then slowly and Carefully reinstall your programs one at a time while checking to see if it's slowed down at all...If you install a program then all of a sudden it's really slow, then you know that's the program causing the problem...this usually happens with driver conflicts...
That's what I would do anyways..

You can try downloading the CCleaner program from www.filehippo.com It does a good job of cleaning up your computer. I also have WinASO\Registry Optimizer 2.8. I use the trial version because it's free and fixes 10 problems at a time without expiring.I assume you have done a disc clean up and defraged your C drive.

You not given enough info.
If you are using windows XP OS.
You should format your drive containing the XP and reinstall the
windows XP this will make your comp faster.
If you are not willing to reinstall your OS then,
Another option is to Defragment your Hard drive.
To do this go to
START > Accessories > System tools > Disk defragmenter.
and defragment your hard drive this would make your hard drive faster...
Hope your Computer gets faster. ^_^

What is slow. Starting up, internet.
You got to tell us more about it.
Have you defraged it, got any errors.
Got cable internet or dialup.
Know this, if its a older computer, P2, it will not go like a P3, P4.
