The shooter was convinced that the other students were evil and that they were persecuting him.
Also he was attracted to one of the female students and she rejected him.

It was one student and he did it because they laughed and made fun of him. Humiliation is the main cause of these shootings. They tell teachers, not to laugh and make fun of these kids, but they don't stop. I think God allowed these shootings to happen to wake up colleges, Columbine woke up middle schools.
