I suppose it depends on where you live. Where I am the inside offices are open until 7PM. However, there will be postal employees at the outside mailboxes accepting the returns until midnight. They will make sure the returns have the April 17 post mark.

Some are open until 9 p.m. and others until midnight. Those that close before midnight often have postal officials on the sidewalk to stamp your tax return envelope.
Also. the news reported that if you are in the northeast United States and have been affected by the big storm, you can write this at the top of your tax return and send it a day later.
Good luck.

Here, our main post office is open until midnight tonight. Usually the cut off is 9pm, but tonight, if you get it there by midnight, it will still be postmarked April 17.

It depends on where in the USA you live. In some cities they are open all-night.
