i think it is a little shameful that the little girls go through soooo much training to look like a pre-teen. with the fake teeth to hide missing teeth and the fake eyelashes. there is just so much the girls go through. hey but it depends on how the participants feel about performing in the pageants.

I am a bias person when it comes to children pageants. I am for them because a pageant is like an extracurricular activity and it gives a child something to do to occupy their mind and to keep them out of trouble. There is nothing wrong with children beauty pageants. If you have a beautiful child and you want to show her off to the world that is fine, but I am against them when you have a parent that gets so wrapped up in their child winning that they do things that causes that child mental or physical or emotional harm. Like some parents put so much stress on their kids to be beautiful that as these kids become older, it leads to eating disorders or all these unnecessary surgeries and implants. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and besides everyone is beautiful because they were made from the image of the most beautifulest person in this world, man himself. I am also against beauty pageants because you have these parents that are putting so much makeup on a child and making them look too grown up and in turn having them stalked and preyed upon by these sick minded molesters out there. A child does not need to wear a ton of makeup on her face. The purpose of a beauty pageant is to show your real beauty. That is show your natural beauty. The gift that God himself gave you.

Against, it makes children feel more self-conscious and worried about their looks, whether they're pretty enough, skinny enough. It's stupid and horrible to see little kids watching their weight and dieting and wearing make-up at such a young age. One time, I was watching Dr. Phil (I normally don't watch it, but that episode was so stupid so I just had to watch) and this mother entered her daughter in like loads of pageants and the little girl was like 7, I think. The mom put make up on the little girl and everything, I felt bad for her. That little girl was like 7 and already constantly worried about her looks and she didn't even look like a little girl in the picture, that's sad. It's ridiculous what this world has come to.

I'm completely against this. In the era of child pornography, I think beauty pageants act as a forum for pedophiles to get off on.
And further, children should be children. They shouldn't be dressed up like dolls in order to be judged in return for a possible cash reward.

OH my god don't get me started. I think it so sick that people get there daughters made up to look like porcelin dolls just so maybe they can be the envy of all the other moms on the block. I highly doubt any small child could make the decision on theyre own to be in beauty peagents. I think that those things are freaky and all about the moms.

Can't stand them. Save that money you'd spend on all the dresses and other crap for her college education. A particular saying that rings true in this case---those who work with their hands serve those who work with their minds. Develop her mind, not her appearance, and she'll reap the benefits.

i am totally against it. i think it is unhealthy for their future self-esteemd. i dont want them to think they have to be the most beautiful to have a place in this world. i'd rather they enter the spelling bee or be in the debate team.

I am against them.
Such "contests" objectify children.
Children are human beings, they are not objects.
