Why is it that when black women are stereotyped there are tons of black men who can't wait to chime in? Don't they realize they make themselves (& us as a whole) look like fools to everyones else, & give the racists even more ammunition. I'm not saying we shouldn't discuss our faults, but there is nothing constructive about opinionate one sided , slandering posts.

Nora2200-hiphop/rap before maybe 10 years ago wasn't as 1 dimensional as it is now (meaning it wasn't just gangsta rap songs being played in the mainstream) People forget Will Smith & Queen Latifah were/are rappers. I don't agree with the statement by Simmons that rap doesn't affect the youth & she should campagne to make mainstream rap culture more balance. So should Jimmy Iovine & Clive Davis who behind the scenes have MUCH more POWER. There are GREAT rap acts, but hardly anyone complaining seems interested!?

The last 20 years has been full of rap and hip hop--the ULTIMATE in making black people look like fools.

Until you write your ten letters telling Russell Simmons off (he's the so-called godfather of the genre) I can't understand why you don't 'get' that it's the 'in' thing to do to denigrate black men and black women.

Update: Rap/hip hop has always been terrible. At the time, Wil Smith and Queen Latifah were exceptions to the rule--and they quickly moved on to other genres because they got drowned out by the smut.

You can't tell me that originators like NWA, Death Row Records, Suge Knight, Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, and their ilk were anything but pimping, whoring, thugging, Uncle Tom sellouts. The next group, featuring P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg, are even WORSE.

And this was all more than 10 years ago. Quincy Jones has supported it all. He has major egg on his face, blood on his hands, and LOTS of explaining to do.

I totally agree, beating one another down in public is exactly what the slave traders wanted the black folk to do, we are unable to present a united front. Which started as far back as the field slaves were envious of the house slaves and so on and so forth. The social chasm was created to keep us from getting together and getting the real job done. Which was unite, conquer and overthrow, the African had it by population. Even today the plan works and keeps blackfolk divided. and pointing up our rights and all of our wrongs is about racial envy. Every little thing you do, say, wear, or sing about is being watched by the wannabees. Heck, they've been talking since the first bail of cotton was formed and they'll be talking three weeks after the last bail has been sold.
The negative talk, really boils down to survival and who's babies get to eat all of the Captain Crunch.(Survival of the fittest) So, the envy thing really isn't about making fun of blackfolk-men or women; its really about making myself feel like I'm more, by making you feel like you're less deserving of the right to have Captain Crunch. Honestly, theres enough Captain Crunch to go around if we try to love one another, celebrate our differences, and dance like nobody is watching.

I'M OUT!

Before I even read what was written just by the title I instantly thought , "well i always picture a redneck or white man as a wife-beater." And i see you said basically the same thing. As for the pedophile just watch To Catch A Predator, majority are white men! But people do stereotype black men as mistreating women when really guys of all races do, not all guys of course..but usually in movies its the white men portrayed as wife beaters. Usually drunken rednecks, not to offend anyone but people know how hollywood is.

Im not a coloured person nor am i racist, but as a female from my point of you its the same on either side of the fence. I personally dont see colour, but if someone is bitchin about their man and i know someone like that i chime in too. its about inter-relating to the person whether its over something good or bad we all have our opinions and they may be narrow-minded views. ive had people slander me and yes it ticks me off and its awful to have people think you are something that you are not or you get stereo-typed for race, sexual preference, locality or anything else and the people behind it often fear what they do not know or are trying to find where they fit in the scheme of things. Hell, you might stereo type me for my answer because i'm white and know nothing about what it is to be coloured.... I dont think it makes you look like fools at all, under any circumstances its just human nature.

It is instinctual to defend your own race, just as it is to defend your favourite football team etc. I can see exactly where your coming from -having an opinionated argument will usually just make things worse, people need to just learn to control themselves. As a white guy I get extremely frustrated when theres a narrow minded racist comment, just like you said it makes us look like fools you everyone else...it's a vicious cycle when we talk **** and other people talk **** it's one giant hypocritical debate. Theres always someone out there ready to chime in about anything and everything -being tolerant is the only strength we have but one day i'm just gonna go crazy!!!

I agree. Wouldn't it show that you are a better person, if you can just let it go like a mature adult? Seriously, It would make things much better if everyone in the world could just GET OVER your faults, and when you get nsulted, get over THAT too!!

I'm just speculating here, without any particular prejudice, but it seems the statistics show that far more black women are raising black children alone, and far more black women are receiving educations. From that position alone, it would seem they have a basis for general criticism of black men, however plausible.

I agree with Miss Lisa. she's on point about that. it's not that we are in a hurry to "chime in" and you y'all down. but at the same time, we see that sometimes your way is wrong...or maybe it's not wrong there's just a better way. i think a lot of us are just hurt. it hurts us when you don't succeed, or when you don't live up to your potential, or even worse when you let negativity and ignorance get the best of you.

so, don't see as us hatin...we're just as frustrated as you are, my brotha.

So what are you saying? It sound very unclear. Sounds like dark women are doing something to make the rest of the dark culture look bad and "stereotypical"... ??? Or vise-versa.
