The Indonesian government banned the Masonic Order in 1961.

A book on Freemasonry in Indonesia up until this point is

"Freemasonry in Indonesia from Radermacher to Soekanto, 1762-1961" written by Paul W Van der Veur

The Freemasons helped to set up the Indonesian Theosophical Society in the early 1900's. It actually became more popular than Masonry and grew larger in membership in the East Indies colony, especially so among Indonesians.

Freemasonry also pops up in numerous writings of political nature in Indonesia Raden Mas Soetatmo Soeriokoesoemo's Committee for Javanese Nationalism claimed it Freemasonry was on of their four inspirations.

The Theosophists organized a branch of Co-Masonry, (men and women members) with lodges in Medan in Sumatra.

Another excellent source, which is where I grab some of my info from is:

Vrijmetselarij en samenleving in Nederlands-Indië en Indonesië By Th Stevens.

I've place a link to a limited preview of the book in my source

Sorry, this is the English-language "Answers". You want the Malaysia or Singapore one, I presume. Or rephrase your question. Like "What is a freemason?", if I understood you right.
