A radio report today said the authorities had not located the parents yet.

That seems strange concidering I heard Cho lived with them in Centreville when he was not staying at the dorms.

Any other time a killing of even one person happens, we always hear from a representative of the parents by now, or even the parents themselves.

Just wondering.

oh! I would most definitely "disappear" but I would have a spokesperson speak to the nation on my behalf, offering up some sort of words to comfort the people and even express my own sorrow and grief for the realities I must now face as Cho's mother.

I was just wondering if the authorities couldn't even locate them, 'cause one never knows about these things. This script he wrote about the death of a father and child molestation and murder... I think if I were the cops, I'd want to ask the family about their kid's life.

KaKa_K: If what you say is true then this could explain very much the script Cho wrote in his creative writing class about a father being dead (Perhaps murdered) and a new man molesting the son. Interesting. ---And I don't think you have to worry about America turning on South Koreans because of one man. Sheesh! My husband and I are seriously looking into adopting a baby from South Korea. If I really thought there was a problem brewing, i wouldn't do that. :)

Felix: I wasn't asking for an "Interview" so don't assume that. I was simply asking where they were. I was worried that their son might have killed them too. If they are "missing" (Which I don't know) the idea that they may have met foul play is a reasonable wonder.

If the parents are in hiding, it's probably due to the language barrier. Athough it is a little fishy, because they should have already hired a lawyer or someone else to represent them publicly if they couldn't speak English well.

If what the Korean portals are saying is true, that the father committed suicide by slitting his wrists and that the mother is hospitalized due to an abortive suicide attempt, then there is some kind of a restraint against making that fact public. I seriously wonder why the police would want to keep that knowledge a secret.

Thirdly, it is possible that they have fled the country. If they have, then they should be extradited back to the U.S. and stand trial in the U.S. On what charge? I don't know but it's an awful, inexcusably cowardly thing to do to run away from being held accountable in any way for their son's actions.

They did NOT committ suicide, a press conference held earlier already answered that one. They are probably helping authorities with the investigation. I think most Americans will try to sympathize with what these poor people must be going through. I don't think they are in hiding, and I don't think they should have to be. Even though it's only day 3, it will be fairly soon that some information about the parents will be released.

His parents own and operate a business near bye, they have been living in the US for 15 years. They are residents, or resident aliens I think you refer them as.

Why interview them?, what will that achieve, let them grieve at the loss of their son, and the tragedy which occurred. They have to live with this too. No easy task for anyone, for any parent.

Cho was a permanent legal resident and had been since he was 8. He lived in Centreville (Fairfax County).

Maybe they don't want to answer the hard questions. For example, is there some reason your son was writing scripts about child molestation? Did someone do something to him when he was a kid? Did you know about it? Did you do something about it? Did the responsible person pay? Did you get him counseling so he could deal with it? Is that the reason you sent him to the United States - so you DIDN'T have to deal with it? Man, I'd have a hundred questions for those people, believe you me!!!

I had heard they had been 'escorted' from the family home along with the sister. I read that the SouthKorean Embassy wishes to speak with them to make sure they are all right. It is odd that nobody seems to be sure of their whereabouts. I hope we do learn where they are and more about Cho's childhood with them. This morning I read that he was diagnosed as Autistic as a child.

do you seriously believe that "some" americans, many even, will not turn on south koreans? We live in a country where even the president has stated ENTIRE countries as EVIL. (the axis of evil)... There will certainly be a serious backlash against south koreans and other people of asian descent!

They probably went into hiding, because of the fact that reporters would be crawling all around the house, asking difficult questions that would be hard to answer.

And then the discrimination. People might egg their house,,etc. because of the act that their son commitied.

Korea Times reported that they were hospitalized. The paper got their information from the FBI who were questioning them. Rumors of the fathers suicide http://jairusotieno.blogspot.com were greatly exaggerated. The feds felt it was better to keep them in seclusion.
