Different states have different license reqs. I suggest looking for your state's wildlife commission website, and going from there, or even calling your state wildlife commission to ask (or whatever your state calls it)

I currently have a "reptile license" what this allows me to do is with All lizards, snakes and turtles protected under the National Parks and Wildlife Act allows me to keep captive-bred reptiles as pets. it depends on the species you keep. I have a type 2 so any poisonous animals i tell them everything other then that i dont tell them anything.

Other then that this is the only license i know of. Our zoo also requires several license if you work/care/medicly help with the animals.
