What are his interests? Hobbies?
You really shouldn't be asking this question here. If he's your stepson, then take an interest in his life. Ask him about his day, his plans for the weekends, what he does with his friends.
The perfect present could be right in your face. All it takes is a little paying of attention.

Depends what he's into...
If he likes music, maybe get him a CD or some concert tickets.
Maybe some movie passes for him and some friends to go see a show. How about a video game or a book? Maybe a new soccer ball or baseball tickets.
