Its very upsetting I know, its also something that I have heard many times in this relationship. I really don't think they mean that for real I think it is something to say at the time. And they know it gets to you. They like ways to get to you. But if you truly feel he doesn't care then maybe its time to move on. Ten years in a relationship is a long time invested. But feelings do go bad and things like this happen. Don't beat yourself up for it, its not your fault, its just the human animal.

It would depend on what was going on when he said it. If he just said it out of the blue, I would be very upset about it. If he said it in the middle of a big argument, where things were being said by you both & it got out of control, then I would still be upset, but I would give him a chance to say he didn't mean it, or he's sorry.

Wow, that's a verbal slap in the face. I don't care when it was said or what the circumstances were, there is no kind of excuse for that language from someone who supposedly cares about you. Sounds like he has checked out of your relationship. What a total lack of respect for you.

Said in the heat of the moment? Then a 'sorry' should follow. If not, you'd better have a relook at your relationship.

I'd consider there to be a BIG problem in the relationship that needed to be addressed immediately....before I decided whether or not it was worth staying in.

I'd be ignoring him! There's no excuse for someone you've known that long to say that to you. I'd be making myself very scarce around him.

People say things they don't mean. Let him sleep on it.
