If you never met it doesn't count. I met and married my on line boyfriend.

Oh wow that's weird. I don't think online relationships (if you've never met the person) are worth it, but if that's what someone is comfortable with more power to them. No one should stand in their way.
As for you question, they should only tell if they're continuing to talk to the person online and carry on the relationship.

That depends on a couple things:
Are you between the ages of 10 and 16?
Did you meet this person on Runescape, Neopets, or a similar site?
If the answers to either of those questions is "yes," then no. It isn't a real relationship.

It does count because I believe that you can really connect to someone online. It is however only emotional. But there is a true connection there.

Okay--I think that they are sort-of real. You are really communicating with another person. But it is less real than writing letters, getting pictures in the mail, smelling the perfume on the paper......knowing the person's handwriting...
I don't think you need to tell.......it's not a big deal.

Yes... you devolop feelings for one another... you get to know one another even if you don't know if what the other person is saying is true or not. Ya know in reality they could do the exact same thing so no difference in that really.

i think it depends on how far the relationship goes...such as cybersex, and altho you never meet in person,do you chat on the phone. I would say if those things have happened, the yes. why keep it a secret?
