I'm sure there is an official answer for this......Middle Class depends on a couple different factors so it's hard to say but Middle Class are usually professional types. So I'd say $100,000...What people generally refer to as Middle Class........Hate to burst your bubble but we are one step below. Most of us are Working Class. There are however differing points of view and modles of actual class hierarchy in this nation.I agree with the one that uses Working Class as well as the other three clases and doesn't just lump us into unemployed/welfare (lower class),everybody else(Middle),and the super rich(Upper).

That, my boy, depends a great deal upon where you live as housing costs vary significantly across this great land of ours. For example, rent on Manhattan's Upper West Side is many, many times more expensive than it is in Iowa City.
If I had to pick a national number, however, I'd say that a middle class income for a single person at this point in time is in the range of $30,000 - $75,000.

Middle class AVERAGE income for a single person? Of course it does vary by area of the country but I'd say between $20 -$40,000 a year.

I would say $40,000 to $50,000 depending on where you live. If you live in New York City or San Francisco your cost of living would be higher and the jobs tend to also pay a little more in those places on average. Middle class in Alabama or Wyoming might be as little as $30,000 because the cost of living is way cheaper for housing and amenities.

Middle-Middle class? Or Lower-Middle Class?
If Middle-Middle, I'd say 50-55. Lower-Middle I'd say at least 35.
The government says it's something like $29,500/yr. Ridiculous.

I think it actually changes from town to town. Uh, I think middle class for my area in the Midwest is probably a little over 50K a year per family.I am sure that it is a lot higher of a number in cali. For a single person, I dunno 30K? I don't know.

you can't put a number on it. $50,000 may seem like a lot of money if you live in middle of the country, but if you live in New York, New England, Chicago, or California, $50,000 isn't squat. Different areas have different living expenses.

Depends on where you live and cost of living... I would say $40-50k/yr .. obviously, a little more for a big city like NY or LA.
