I'm not wasting all my time with the rest. Why don't you look up how to do it so that when exam time comes, you won't fail?

It is very easy... http://www.nyu.edu/pages/mathmol/textbook/scinot.html

Christine, you are being lazy. The rule is to "push" the decimal point to the left if the number is bigger than 10 and to the right if the number is less than 1. Count the number of "pushes" you need until you reach a number between 1 and 10 in front of the decimal point. If you pushed left, the power of ten will be the number of pushes as a positive number. If you pushed right, the power of 10 will be a the number of pushes as a negative number. For example, in 5, the decimal point is after the last 8. So you "push" left 4 times, you will reach 7.5488 and since you pushed left 4 times, you will have 10^4 power. And in example 6, you push the decimal point to the right 5 times until you have 7.0 as the number. Since you pushed right, the power will be 10^-5.

If you can understand that, you can knock these out in a jiffy.
