Hi, I was just wondering that why would anyone laugh at someone's misfortune? Is that the way how humans are suppose to live? I mean it's not nice to laugh or display a manner of fun in someone's other loss or misfortune or disability right? I just can't understand it nor I can help understanding it? It's not just a thing of fun to make fun of people's race right? Why is that? Why can't we (humans) live without them? What is wrong with us?

I have been disabled my entire life and was made fun of frequently while in school. If you let it get to you,it will. Truthfully,I believe it made me stronger in some ways because now I can pretty much see people for who they really are. Those that are mean and uncaring are just not worth my time,it is their loss. My true friends don't even see my disabilities.
Karma will get these people eventually.

It would actually depend on how the person deals with things I myself can laugh when I'm in the hospital cause I split my lip open trying to jump a bmx bike and never attempted it before. People handle things differently some laugh to hide pain, Some laugh cause they are in fact not capable of being human. I have had people laugh at my unfortune, and didn't really care cause I knew thats how they are, And you can't change people or their way of dealing with things, Or their outlook on life, The only thing you can do is be the best person you can be.

I even have puzzled the comparable question and that i've got not been partial to slapstick comedy the two. somebody getting harm isn't my concept of entertainment, even though my father enjoyed it. He might chortle at all the places that i might experience the actor's "discomfort". odd isn't it. additionally the "Funniest domicile movies" teach has human beings for sure hurting themselves in falls and mishaps and a superb type of folk like to observe it and chortle on the "sufferers". There would desire to be something in human beings that releases a feeling of alleviation perhaps that the sufferer is somebody else, no longer ourselves. yet back i do no longer have confidence this is humourous. good question.

There is a word schadenfreude which means to take pleasure at someone elses downfall, its not a new word.
Some people may feel insecure or inferior and someone else's failures may make them feel better about themselves. although it is not an admirable trait I think most of us are capable of it to a certain extent some people may take it to extreams and be abusive but on the whole it is just human nature

Bad manners. The other obvious reason is that it is a nervous reaction to the fact that they realize that they are glad they are not the ones with the misfortune.

Sometimes laughing at misfortune is the very thing that gets us through it. Of course timing is everything. I don't mind being laughed at at the right time.

I think it's a way for people to feel better about themselves, they have low self-esteem, so it makes them feel better about their own shortcomings to laugh at those of others.
I also think its the people who were never made fun of, or very rarely made fun of, while growing up that do so as adults. Those of us who were constantly made fun of understand what it feels like and don't do so later in life.

Watch America's Funniest Videos. Most all relate to a
mis-fortune people have and most are very funny.

To laugh at a person that has a REAL problem, is a bit on the sadistic side. Pops

That is just the way the world is, everyone is not the same. They probably don't know any better. You should tell them that it is not nice and that ....today for me...tomorrow for you and every dog had his day.
