I stopped at an old gas station recently and asked to use the phone. When the guy handed a rotary dial phone to me, it was almost like I had forgotten how to use it. And I grew up using them.

Good question!

I also grew up using them. My 15 year old son and his friends don't really know what one is! I once said, "Dial 9 first, then the phone number" and they asked why I said dial as opposed to push LOL

Hmmmmm....can you smell the smoke? I'm trying to think of the last time I used one. Don't call the fire department just yet! Probably when I was about 15 years old, I'll guess.

That would be at my parents house about 10 years ago. I was so flustered trying to use it, I bought them a touch tone model right away. Then THEY spent the next couple months trying to figure-out how to dial THAT.

I, like you, grew up using rotary phones, but confront me with one today (not uncommon in parts of Europe, for example) and I'm a mess.

Interesting question. When was the last time you had a glass of Tang?

In 1980, was the last time, gawsh darn it..I'll never forget the old times using a rotary dial phone. Especially when your in a hurry, dial the wrong number, or when your in a foul mood, end up hurting your finger too hard-wham~yeeeouch! lol

Damn. The last time I used a rotary telephone was when I went over my neighbors house, she was like 90 years old and thought her phone was the coolest.

Ah yes...I remember those and how I would force the rotary to turn back faster, so I could get the next number.

LOL-- no way! That is so funny! I cannot believe it worked. Most of the new systems are not designed to handle those anymore.

It must've been in the early 1980's last time I used one.

Wow. I never even think about those anymore! It was 16 or 17 years ago at my Grandpa's house in the middle of Iowa! Don't think I have seen one since!

That would have been around 10 years ago. My memere had one before she moved! They were fun ( I was 8 years old then) and it was like a toy that I had on wheel with a phone on it.

I have one I am going to use in my Antique room. It was my Grandmothers and it still works. Haven't used it for a 8 years though. I love it.
