Well it seems that the Stars season is pretty much at an end what do they need to do to start winning. I personally think they need to get some offensive players. I am talking about players that are just pure offense. They all ready have the killer D and Turco seems to be getting better in the playoffs if they add a little more offense they could go place. What do you think they need to do?

My Dad says they should have fired their coach Tippet 3 years ago. They also gave up Arnott, Langnbrunner and Guerin and got little in return. 2 of those 3 players have been pretty good so far in the playoffs with their new teams and Arnott may have something left to say as well. The Stars have good checking and a solid back end, but I agree they need offense. They lack the fire power to beat the Canucks. Their player personnel is not as good since Bob Gainey left the general management position(That part was from my Dad too).

The Dallas Stars need a different coach. Tippett has them so brainwashed into boring defensive play, they can't score against another defensive team like the Canucks. The best they can hope for is a lucky power play goal off a tip, or an oppotunistic transition goal.

Modano, Lehtinen, and company are suffocating under their own boring system. Vancouver is playing smart, but Dallas isn't exactly forcing the issue. Playing offense sometimes means giving up a little defense, but Tippett won't allow it.

The difference now is that the Canucks have 2-3 lines that grind out a playoff-style cycle goal, and the Stars don't. If the season ends Thursday, Tippett won't be back.

I think they need to score more goals than the other team.

Lol, jk.

Anyways, I think that they are playing good. Turco should've had Ohlunds goal today and Pyatt's goal in game 3.
Dallas is also doing a way better job than Vancouver at getting screened shots but Bingo Bango Bongo, you can't beat Roberto Luongo!

Real answer. Get rid of Modano. He's not a big draw. And he's not a big producer. He get paid way too much in the new NHL cap scheme. They could get 3 guys to produce more for the same money. It's a sad reality. The stars are going to have their paycheques reduced over the next few years when teams realize they can't put all their money in 2 or 3 guys.

They are too old. Half your players are on the wrong side of 30. They are past their prime and are over paid (true of most older players - not just yours.)

Only a hot goalie should be kept past 30, then maybe one experienced defenseman. But never half the team. Yes, I would start getting rid of the old guys and start with Modano.

They need exactly what the Canucks need, offensive players that will shoot the dam puck. Vancouver and Dallas are so identical. They both have great defense, good goalies and no one that can score.
