considering that is was just a small, white package, and that chick was a welder, it was more than likely that it was just some paper. like documents and such.
in the opening scene of the movie the house has "dick & betina" metal work in the gate. the woman the must have found that her husband was cheating on her as at the end when chuck goes to return the package (which her husband never recieved) the dick part is gone meanin she is single . i think chuck wil go and talk to her suggested by him smiling at her direction in the very last scene.
I also think that that symbol that was painted on the box means something to him. He had painted it on the sail. I think he decided to head in the direction of that symbol and see where it took him.

What was in the package was not important. The point of the package was in the angels wings, which he believed to be watching over him. I also believed he chased the girl because I think that the movie was saying fate led him to her.

No idea about the package. They never said, so I suppose it could have been anything. I do think that he was going after the girl, though.
