I'm in the same boat!I'm 7 weeks 3 days pregnant, and have gained 7 pounds.I am not over weight either and have not been eating much more then normal.I think it could possibly be fluid retention, but I'm not sure.

Everyone is different. It's normal to gain weight, and everyone does it a different time. Me, I lost 17lbs during the first trimester. Morning sickness is the understatement of the century. Anyway, I haven't gained any. I am at 12 weeks, but a friend of mine has gained 7lbs, but isn't showing at all. Make sure that you are eating healthy. Stay away from greasy, sugary, or caffeinated foods and drinks. If you do need them, then just do it in moderation. Start taking a 30min walk every day. You would be surprised how much that would help. Last but not least, if you feel that you are gaining weight too quickly, ask your doctor and see what they have to say. They know more about you and could give you tailored advice. Good luck and congrats!
P.S. If you try "sugar free" foods, be careful. Your digestive track has trouble breaking them down and could make you more bloated.

You're supposed to gain 4-5 pounds in the whole first trimester (unless you were underweight to being with). However, chances are you're bloated. I know I was at that point! So it's likely water weight. I lost 10 pounds in the first trimester, mostly because I was eating more healthily, but now at week 18 I've gained 5 of it back. Sounds like you're healthy, though. Just watch what you eat...remember, you really don't need extra calories yet, and even in your 2nd and 3rd trimesters you only need 300 extra calories a day! Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Well, I'm into my second trimester now and have gained 1 lb. I had morning sickness really bad and am finally up to my prepregnancy weight. Some women gain weight differently. If you're only 5 1/2 wks along, 5lbs is kind of a lot so maybe you weren't on track w/ what your most current prepregnancy weight... it could also be water weight... bloating happens too... Be sure to get w/ an OB soon to get your 1st appt and congrats! Good luck!

If you don't have morning sickness then, yes, it's normal to gain about 5 pounds or so. My doctor said a lot of it is water weight and retention which is why some women feel bloated early on.

hi! Weight varies with all of us. In my first being pregnant I misplaced approximately 10 lbs the 1st trimester by way of fact I had such undesirable morning sickness. besides the incontrovertible fact that now i'm approximately 10 weeks alongside into my 2nd being pregnant and that i've got no longer gained or misplaced something so some distance. i does no longer worry too lots approximately your weight by way of fact this is diverse for each being pregnant. while you're already obese then merely attempt to devour fit much less fatty and sugary issues and you'd be merely fantastic!

I haven't gained any, I lost 10lbs in the first trimester, I just couldn 't eat. But my doctor said as long as I eat right, when I can eat that I would be fine, I am in the second trimester now and I have gained 1lb.
Good luck

I don't know, but I would rather have your problem. I'm twenty weeks and haven't gained any yet and I was already under weight.
