If it is not a Christian holiday or feast then why does this website says so?

Then find and click on Halloween page and tell me what do you think about this?

imacatholic is right, It's a kind of a grey area for holidays, because the story of it's origin is so complicated. Depending on how you feel about it make your celebration of the day fit your personal beliefs, from not celebrating at all to having a full blown celebration.

Halloween has certainly grown into an important feast, especially among our children. Growing up in a mostly family-oriented neighborhood in Bennington, I can remember the large numbers of children wearing costumes that resembled ghosts, witches, and whatever action figure/super hero was popular that year. We would be looking forward to the treat received at each door. Some of our neighbors took this night more seriously than others, decorating their yards and homes with jack-o-lanterns and other Halloween items.

The Catholics celebrate All Saints day on November 1 and All Souls Day on November 2. The Anglican communion combines the two. Halloween is insignificant outside the USA although the influence of American TV and movies is making it more widely celebrated. There are even tentative forays into Trick or Treat in Australia but they don't get very far, most people aren't interested even if they know what it is.

No, Halloween is NOT a Christian holiday. The Catholics used a pagan holiday to celebrate All Saints Day and make it easier for pagan people to convert.

Pagon hollidays were created to spur business during slow times of the year. Some religions do not recognize these holidays. Are these hollidays good for family in general? yes they are and no halloween is not a christian holliday. If we as humans pick at every thing it is no wonder that a lot of us are depressed from all of the negative.Think good thoughts and enjoy your day.

I'm not a Catholic but I used to be, and no it is not a Christian Holiday, but neither is Christmass or Easter both those have Pagan origins and were practiced before Christ was on earth.

Kind of.

Halloween is actually like Christmas Eve. The night before a Christian holy day.

It is the eve of All Saint's Day or All Hallows Eve or Halloween. Just like "hallowed be Thy name."

But just like Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday), Halloween has taken on a life of its own.

Christians including Catholics do not fear death, evil, or Satan. In Christ, we can laugh in the face of death.

From an email I received:

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside, and scoops out all the yucky stuff--including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

With love in Christ.
