I am having surgery in tomorrow morning, one of the procedures is to remove what my gyn called a nabothian (cervical) cyst. I Googled images of nabothian cysts and I don't think that's whats wrong. All the pictures showed what looks like tiny little dots, cysts, on the opening of the cervix, but that's not what is wrong with me. What he's supposed to be removing is a large lump on the side of my vaginal wall. He actually wrote removal of legion on vaginal wall on the surgery papers. Could this just be one really big cervical cyst? Or what? Now I'm really wondering...what else could it be? I am also having a laparoscopy and D&C done to see why I have such irregular periods (2 weeks apart w/o birth control) and cystic ovaries. Looking for endometriosis and signs of PCOS. Maybe the irregular periods and low FSH/LH levels causing irregular/absent ovulation has something to do with this cysts/growth/tumor whatever it is! Anyone?

The only way to diagnose PCOS is to run all blood tests (as well as some other tests such as for kidney function) and such to rule out things like Cushings' Disease, Diabetes, etc. When those tests come back and come back normal then they can look at testosterone levels (yep we make some testosterone too but not the same amount that men do which is why when we make too much it causes symptoms such as pimples and retain a lot of water causing weight gain, these are two classic symptoms of PCOS).

I don't know if you have had your surgery yet but as for nabothian cysts those are normal cysts to have on the cervix. I have at least 3 of them. The first time I felt one I thought it was a pimple.

If you have not had your surgery yet then I would recommend getting another opinion because you sound unsure of what is going on but I would recommend doing it with someone that does not share the same office as the dr you currently see.

If you have already had surgery I wish you well on your recovery and pls continue to take it easy even at 8-12 weeks post op because your insides will still be trying to heal from the procedure. Also, eat lightly for the next few weeks because your stomach will be super sensitive.
