As a general rule, extremism in any form is bad--not just for America, but for the world as well. Japan has a saying about the power of America: When American sneezes, Japan catches a cold. Our politics affect not only the United States, but the entire world.
Sadly, American foreign policy--whether the leadership has been Democratic or Republican--has been largely guided by its economic interests. Jimmy Carter did introduce the idea of human rights as principle of American policy, but that has largely been abandoned by every President that has followed him.
Our goals are essentially two-fold: insure access to the raw materials abroad (which includes skilled and unskilled labor) necessary to keep the U.S. economy strong, and protect American companies trying to sell manufactured goods and services overseas.
If I were a Marxist--and I am not--I would say this is capitalism at its last stages. But I will say that these things, combined with America's ability to project power in the world, are conducive to those individuals who want an imperial America.
And most of them are the so-called Neoconservatives.

I'm a conservative and have been for a LONG time.
I'm not sure what the definition of Neo-conservative IS, but to me a conservative is one who CONSERVES.
I believe in conserving the constitution.
Conserve the environment. (Notice I did NOT say PRESERVE the environment. Preserve means NO CHANGE.)
Change is a fact of life. Without change the is stagnation.
To conserve would mean that change is well though out, not wasteful, very deliberate and coupled with LOGIC & RESPONSIBILITY.
You can run that down whatever list of topics you choose and conservative principles should apply to any subject.
If Neo-cons violate that principle, then they are bad for America.
For the same reasons Liberalism is BAD for America.
Eliminating terrorism and the sources of their support is a conservative principle that needs to be applied world-wide.
Never tolerate TYRANTS.
Wasteful spending and tolerating dishonest politicians is NOT something a true conservative should allow.

Seems like a lot of the original neocons are already running away from that sinking ship, I'm a lib and prefer to deal with a true conservative than one of those neos any day of the week.

Neo-conservatives that are currently in power certainly have caused problems. I do think that many, such as Wolfowitz, really thought that they could force democracy across the Middle East via the domino effect. But that is operating in a Cold War mentality, and that will no longer work. Are we at the stage of Britain and Rome? I don't think we are there, but if we continue to make poor foreign policy decisions, we certainly could be.

I 'm not sure what a neo-conservative is. Is that the opposite of a far left wing liberal? Any extremes are not good. Conservatives think every day should be the 4th of July, while liberals think every day should be April 15th......

WOW, what a huge assertion. All Neo-Conservatives (and you spoke to all of them, I take it) ... "blind, unbending help" and back I ask, you checked with all of 'em, precise, all of them agreed they supply blind, unbending help ... Universally seen -- you spoke to the entire freaking universe, too!!!!! WOW. Worst component to have surpassed off to usa and the international ... there have been some poor issues ensue to the international (like the Holocaust as an occasion ... ) What do you realize that i do no longer!!! i'm sorry, yet huge, sweeping statements like that component out lack of wisdom. you will desire to ask questions that would surely be responded, no longer make "statements" disguised as questions. C'mon!

Conservatives are trying to save this Nation by lowering
taxes, saving unborn babies, ending pornography (called
freedom of expression), and fighting for our freedom from
more terrorists. That cannot be bad for America. If this is
called neo-conservative, then I'm one of them and proud
of it.
However, Liberals want higher taxes, killing babies, freedom of expression (pornography), surrender to our enemies......
(called ending the war). It's these that will put an end to
the wonderful and beautiful America as we've always
known it. You have plenty to worry about here.
These are my thoughts.

Neo-cons stole the word "conservative" to get the right wing Christians to follow their agenda.
Neo-cons are not conservative in any way, shape or form.
