buddha is proof that complete inner harmony is possible..but we condition our minds to be chaotic (since we percieve idleness as wickedness) and they fight our attempts to calm the psychic waters...we all have moments of zen (oneness with the universe) when all is calm, all makes sense, and all is possible, but the reason you go from that to states of extreme agitation is your mind rebels against calm, needing activity to justify its own worth...the best way to combat that is to separate yourself from your mind when seeking harmony (a little chi breathing and some mediatation), observe the way your mind rants and raves without becoming actively involved in what it is doing, and after a while it will get tired and stop and you will find that harmony has overtaken you without your even knowing it has happened!

It sounds as if you experienced a moment of joy. A perfect moment. It is usually overwhelming. Or, "you were so happy, that you cried."

Inner peace is very possible when we learn to quiet our minds.

"She who looks outside herself, dreams;
She who looks inside WAKES."

So you just had a waking moment and want to go back, well then , don't let the 'trying' get in the way.
