The division of this country, the United States of America. It would be very nice to see a united people support which ever government gets elected. One year for election process, then three years of united government for the betterment of the country and its people. The same process for the a second term election if the president wants to run again.

my number on issue is my sore tooth..

its been killing me for weeks and I'm pretty sure the nerves gotta go..

this will not only cost a lot of money (since most dentrists are now pseudo-entrepreneurs not caring doctors-they've got mortgages too) and will likley result in a poor service and lots of pain as has been my past experiences.. so for now.. I live with the daily pain until I can save enough to afford a decent dentist or pluck up the courage to toddle off to a butchershop..

The big picture issue is that essential services for the sick, elderly, weak and impoverished should be more accessible and equitable with our richer cousins in society.. because after all.. the rich use the poor and pay them poor wages to get rich in the first place.. so why put them down and make them suffer after.. I worked for pennys for 25 years before finally becoming a business owner.. now I stand to be sunk by a tooth ache!

The economic system in order to function REQUIRES a stream of cheap labor.. yet.. Bush's right wing extremist laws have eroded social services, social justice, pension funds have been wiped out and government coffers plundered by Halliburton's no bid no work contracts.. Bush has doubled the foreign national debt accumulated over 200 years.. in just 6 years.. Bush has completely plundered Government coffers and streamlined every aspect of social spending.. whilst allowing the ultra rich property moguls, media moguls and entrepreneurs have it all their way..

So when my tooth ache gets bad enough.. I'll stop working on my music, my book, my thesis and my two companies (one is a charity).. and my dreams.. and get a job for $400 bucks a week selling liquor.. till I can afford to fix my sore tooth..

People who make a career out of being insulted, offended and scarred for life by what other people say.

edit: Issue is still a valid descriptor. According to Webster, issue as a noun is: any matter of dispute in a legal controversy or lawsuit, very commonly used in such phrases as "the legal issues are," "the factual issues are," "this is an issue which the judge must decide," or "please, counsel, let us know what issues you have agreed upon."
Roget's Thesaurus defines the term "take issue" as: challenge what someone is claiming.

No manufacturing or research in the US. When all the research labs are in China, how can we be a world leader? The US does not even produce enough steel to build a fleet of battleships. We are now at the mercy of China and Japan.

'Issue' does not mean 'problem'!

I have a problem with the misuse of words that are used as a result of being heard misused in the media, in an effort to sound like they are being used correctly.

I think too many people hear a word, such as 'issue', being used incorrectly then try to copy the misuse without looking it up in a dictionary first.

To issue means the act or instance of flowing, passing, or giving out.

So, I don't 'issue' anything. I do own an 'issue' of a magazine though!

Bare fists (and feet) here...

The US teen pregnancy rate; 9X higher than the Netherlands, where they take sex education seriously and allow teens access to contraception.

The Netherlands also tolerates the use of cannabis and regulates prostitution, and if you were to just "transport" yourself to Amsterdam, you would look around and find yourself in a very clean, well-run country.

The US has some serious "religious" issues to work out, before they can get a grip on things like careless pregnancies, recreational drug use and sex.

Word.

(to the fundies): Do some homework and get back to me...

The deficit.

You can give me good reasons to be for and against abortion.
You can give me good reasons to be for and against Iraq.
You can give me good reasons to be for or against the prevention of global warming.

You cannot give me a good reason for running up an 8 trillion dollar deficit. It threatens our sovereignty (as more of our debt is bought up by foreign powers), limits our ability to solve other problems (as about 20 cents of every tax dollar goes to pay for the interest on the debt), and will loom over us for years to come. Someone needs to seriously address this issue before it is too late.

Immigration. The immigration problem in the USA , has a significant effect on education, healthcare, unemployment, crime, ... just about everything.

All voting I do will have that in mind as my number one issue.
