My parents moved a lot and I went to nine different schools by the time I was in 8th grade.
When I graduated I was destined to be a wonderful democrat citizen.
Got married at 25 and after fathering my eldest daughter I more or less woke up and I've been more inclined to being a conservative ever since.
Anyone else wake up years after getting a degree and learning how to be a leader instead of a side-stepping following wanna-be?

Some people have stated or phrased that 'thinking' or 'being more educated' causes you to be more liberal.
I've worked in more think-tanks than you can shake a stick at I'd beg to differ about those theories.
Besides, having thoughts like that or making opinions such as that pretty much puts a staple on how some liberals stereotype and try to put people in their 'place'.

All my life I've had the same opinion of the 9th grader who answered... And I'm not alone.
So far he's way ahead of most (as the best answer choice.) Far, far ahead of the high number of supremely educated liberals who've answered this.

I hadn't 'woken up' after becoming a father (literally.) Most of what I was referring to was how it actually dealt with my age level and my stage in life with respect to all the things I learned after leaving school.
As teachers taught me while in school, life outside is huge!
So is the mental growth after going to school.

My parents and changing schools... They're the greatest and I'm lucky to have gone to so many schools. It taught me more about people than anyone could ever realize.

I am a 9th grader in high school, and we are most certainly taught to "lean towards the left." It is hard to dispute teachers, because they will shut you down by saying, " We don't talk about politics in school." So yes...Liberal teachings are there.

if you are talking moderate Republican view, I can agree with you as long as you allow moderate Democratic views. If you are talking extremely Conservative views, I would have to disagree (as well as extreme Liberal views) because the very nature of extremism is to refuse to see past a narrow view based not in facts, but in dogma of religion or anti-social/anti-government beliefs. The debate between Liberal and Conservatives who share a patriotic concern and value the citizens of the country is a wonderful thing...it keeps the country on an even keel. The extreme views that tear the country to pieces are the enemies of either side.
I can be convinced of something if the issues are laid before me to prove I am wrong. If a Conservative is honest and can do the same, we share a common bond. Many of the issues are not black and white, the real answers are in the gray area in the middle.
I don't think schools cause Liberal tendencies...young fresh minds are full of exploration...as we get older some of us dig a mound of dirt around ourselves for protection. I for one was more sort of conservative as a young man, voted for Reagan and joined the army in 1976 in a flush of patriotism, but the facts of life caused me to see things (a personal perspective not condemnation of other views) with a wider lens as I aged. Now I'm a lot more empatheic and take care to maintain my Karma (so to speak) by trying to fix more than I destroy. If I could, I would leave no "footprints" for others to find

Do not understand what your comparisons are!
How does being a father to more than one child equate to being a wanna-be?
What is wrong with different schools? You meet different people and experience more realities!
My children attended German schools, German international schools, Korean International Schools, Military Schools in Germany, studied music in German Music schools and attended workshops in Norway!
My son is in his last year at R.I.T. and my daughter is in the Air-Force (2ND LT).
What is the difference between a democrat citizen with children and, what ever you are, now, that you supposedly woke-up?
You are still a caring father aren't you, or have you turned to getting more have more and the children, when ever there happens to be an extra second some where, getting less?
What are liberal tendencies?
Last, If you are complaining because your parents had to move, for what ever reason,
they kept you with them, raised you, and saw to it that you went further than the 12th grade!
Seems to me, you have lost your prospective.

As a high school teacher, I don't teach liberal or conservative values, per se. I just team 'em their mathematics.
While some teachers may be liberal, I don't think schools set out to teach kids to be liberal. I think it has more to do with youthful idealism. They see a world filled with injustices and wonder why it has to be that way.
However, when you get that first paycheck and see how much money is being taken away in taxes, all those wonderful liberal programs don't look so wonderful anymore.

No I don't think so. In school your taught very conservative tendencies. The very first thing your taught in school is to sit down, shut up, and obey your teacher (leader) without question or be punished severely!
Those things tend to be very different from the way a liberal thinks which is: Stand up, speak up, and question authority!

Many liberals are great leaders. JFK and Martin Luther King for starters. It's sad that you have a degree and are still so ignorant.

There is obviously more to your life than just high school and your politics are shaped by your experiences and your education. I am a democrat and will always be one, but that is also shaped by a number of experiences beyond my education.
