HgCl2(s) + NH3(aq) ===> No reaction

AgCl(s) + 2NH3(aq) ===> Ag(NH3)2+ + Cl- (soluble)

Silver chloride goes into solution, and the weater solution can be filtered away from the insoluble HgCl2.
