Anything anytime anywhere anyway when someone asks you to give them money, it is a scam. Legitimate employment means YOU get paid. No fees, no startup costs. The same with winning a lottery or raffle. If they ask you for money in any way for any reason, it is a scam. If anyone asks you to provide personal information over email, it is a scam.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Most scams work by counting on the victim's greed overcoming their intelligence.

What are you being asked to do in this email? Send money? scam. Fly to a foreign country to be met by someone? Major scam.
