my itunes is broken. everytime i open it, it freezes before there is time to do anything. no error...i have to use ctrl+alt+delete to get it off it just says not responding. i have uninstalled in and reinstalled it like 5 times. i dont know how else to do it. please help. thank you sooo much!!

It is probably loading too fast or something. It depends on your internet connection too! If you have dial-up it is probably too slow to support it. If you have dsl or broadband it may be your version of Windows... I dont think you'd have Win95 but if you've got Win98 this might cause the problem. If you have Windows Vista go to apple.com to download an upgrade for iTunes 7.

Have you tried opening other media applications like Windows Media Player or Winamp to see if they also have problems? And if they don't, try playing some mp3 files with them to see if the problem can be narrowed down.

I wonder if there's another program that automatically "reclaims" file associations (*.mp3, *.wav, others) and if the conflict is causing the problem.

Yes, I know it is... let's save that.
Go get ANAPOD. It costs some money but it rocks.
Unless you rely on iTunes to shop for music.
It made me happy with my iPod.
