Someone suggested this in another posting, so I'll put it up as a question. If you decide to "let yourself go" in your marriage, does your spouse have a right to complain?

I think so. Just because someone gets married does not mean that they do not haveto fix up from tim to time. I think that makes the person you are with still feel like you care enough to still try to impress them.

It depends on if your spouse let themselves go as well. I on the other hand want my wife to be in good shape so I work out. I also encourage her to the same. I help her by finding workouts and do "some" pushing. It has worked great for us so far. She lost like 15-20 pounds and I did the same. That loss of weight got her excited and motivated. So to end if you want you spouse to stay in shape you must do the same and do it with them.

I believe I allow myself to be excused for such relief when needed, other wise "letting myself be" wouldn't be a personal thing. Can you imagine someone sitting down trying to let go while squealing because they really need to go? =] Ha

Most definitely. I think that you should still want to be physically attractive for them, even though you're off the market...I would hate it if my husband let himself go, and I know he would say something to me. I usually pack on a couple lbs in the winter, and he says stuff, but that's great to me since I want to be attractive for him, and I do not want to be overweight. I want him to see me as the sexy gal he dated. I don't care if he let himself go a little bit, because he's too hot for me anyways! God I love that man! I feel like a giddy school girl! :)

I don't know if they have a right to complain, but they definitely have the right not to be attracted to you any more!!!

And there's always the risk of them cheating on you with someone to whom they are more attracted physically . . .

It doesn't make it right, but people still do it.

I think so. You should never let yourself go... thats like you don't believe in yourself, like you don't believe you deserve to look good. I think spouses SHOULD complain!

They should not complain but instead help you to look good and get in shape for your health and self-image. They should want you to do well and look good.
