Yes, that is one reason and also if someone has already given the answer I was going to give or a better answer. Then I give that answer a thumbs up and move on

I read some of the answers and if what I wanted to say has already been said I dont say anything. But the asker giving stupid answers doesn't make me not answer. I realize how awkward the previous sentence was oh well :P

Not for the extra points. Sometimes I answer them because: 1. The answers may be wrong or 2. they may not have enough information in them. I find that a lot of the time, if I explain things a little more rather than saying, "yes" or "no" I get chosen as the best answer because I put some reasoning behind it.

I sometimes won't answer a question if someone else already gave a really good answer. I figure, why bother - the asker has their answer - if they are smart enough to figure out which one it is :)

I don't answer questions only when it's painfully obvious that the asker is brain-dead. I'll even answer questions from illiterates, providing their typing doesn't look like Egyptian heiroglyphics.

sometimes i don't ask when there are too many answers already and the question is not interesting anyway.
i don't really pay all that much attention to silly or stupid answers to my questions. don't hold the grudge.

Yes and yes. There are a few users I avoid on this site either a very bad/offensive answer or bad questions.

lmao man that happens to me all the time. I go and find out 48 other people already answered like 10 seconds before me so I'm bummed and don't answer or I go to answer and they have the same answer as what I was going to say!!!!!!!! man that hurts :(
