My goldfish ate my other goldfishes tail all the way up to just before the dorsal fin and hes still lives! Can his tail grow back and will hes survive long this way? And is there a special way to feed him because I don't think he can swim properly to get to the food?

No. If it involves damage to the fishes flesh then it will not grow back properly. He could live through it, but will be very, very susceptible to fungus and bacterial infections. I wouldn't expect him to have a very good quality of life after this though. About the only way to feed him would be with a straw or broom straw, something that you can use to hold food near his face. Best of luck with him

While the fin itself will indeed grow back with time, the actual tail never will.

Hopefully this is only a small feeder goldfish, as they can be replaced. I wouldn't expect one of these to live long after this.

If it's a more expensive fish you're attached to, forcefeeding the fish and watching it extremely closely through the rest of its life is the only solution.

Some do and some don't. It might depend of the age of the fish. I cut the tail of my young one because he have infection. He is a year old now and it's perfectly healthy with long fan tail.
