It was announced today that Vince Young the starting quarterback of the Tennessee Titans, will be on the cover of Madden NFL 2008. What do you think of this, and is there going to be a jinx on him? If there is a jinx what kind of jinx will be in store for Young??

I'm not sure how EA came to chose Vince Young for their cover. There are certainly more deserving players: LT, Manning, Brees. As well as the argument for putting a DB in on the cover because they've been neglected over the years, Champ Bailey comes into mind. The only support I can think up for choosing Vince Young is that he was the most CRUCIAL player (relative to their team) for success. LT has that solid O-line to thank for his record year, Peyton has Marvin and Reggie. Who does Vince Young have? No one really. He almost carried the Titans to the playoffs with his elusiveness and poise. Is that reason enough to bag him the cover? Very arguable.

But is getting the cover worth it with the Madden Curse? Personally, i don't believe in curses, i believe in FACTS. But the FACTS are that the last nine Madden Cover boys have had a bad season the following year. Nine.

Garrison Hearst (1999)

Barry Sanders and Dorsey Levens (2000)

Eddie George (2001)

Daunte Culpepper (2002)

Marshall Faulk (2003)

Michael Vick (2004)

Ray Lewis (2005)

Donovan McNabb (2006)

Shaun Alexander (2007)

Curses and superstitions aside, this has to be more than coincidence. A more concrete reason why Vince Young should be worried about the curse? The Tennessee Titans. VY's team is in shambles. The best HB they have is LenDale White, who is overweight at 290lb, they lost their go-to receiver in the off-season, and Pac-Man Jones is suspended for the first 10 games of the season, if not the WHOLE season. Vince has more than the curse to worry about, he has to worry about the current state of his team.

However, if anyone in the league can break the curse, Vince Young is one of them. The 2005 Rose Bowl for example, Young screwed over half of California (me included) with his legendary leadership and abilities. He showed the same skills last year, almost getting the Titans into the playoffs.

It will be interesting to watch Young next year and see if he'll break the "curse" or not. In the end, Vince Young on the cover or not, I think we're all going to buy Madden 08 when it comes out.

First off i just want to say to Nemm that Young is nothing like Vick. Young can throw the ball Vick cant even see over his o-line. I think that is good Vince made the cover (even though im a Boomer Sooner all the way) but i do kinda think it shouldve been Phillip Rivers I mean look what he did in his first year a a starter. Vince didnt start every game.

Excellent, Vince Young is the future of the NFL, the Mike Vick of the AFC, and maybe the best starting QB in the NFL

Hopefully he is not jinxed

It was a horrible decision. Vince Young did not even make the playoffs, threw more picks than tds, and threw the ball over his shoulder running away so he would not get hit. I could probably name countless players that deserved it more. And I will. Ladainian Tomlinson, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Jason Taylor, Shawne Merriman, Devin Hester, Chad Johnson, Assante Samuel, Champ Bailey, Philip Rivers, and so many others. I am shocked that they put someone of that mediocrity on the cover. Next thing you know, they will have Kerry Collins on.

As for the comment above ( The guy named LT) he turned it down as he does most endorsements. Vince Young is going to be a great Qb but season 2 is a tough one for most pro's anyways just ask a couple of Buc's Carnell Williams and Michael Clayton who went from probowl caliber rookies to way underachieving sophomores

First of all, Vince Young is just like Mike Vick, so I don't like him, and second, Chad Johnson is cover of 08, do some research because you said it as a fact.

@ Above: Bryant Mcfadden is the cornerback from the Steelers. I beleive you are talking about Darren Mcfadden ;)

I dont think Vince has down anything to deserve it. Maybe they could put someone named L.T on there. Or at least someone that made a difference in the NFL. There might be a jinx on him because he might think people expect him to good and he doesn't have the power to do anything.

How about the living legend, the guy that scored the more points than any player in history and the guy in 4 or less years may still be playing in the NFL at 50 ol' Morten Andersen?

Quote me on this.... " Fractured Ankle." I know they should've put LT on but I'm a charger. I don't want LT getting hurt. I believe in this curse. They are going to miss the playoffs by two games. Top 15 pick next year they take a WR two years in a row.
