OOH, go to Samos! Eastern Aegean, rather close to Turkey.
That's MY favorite for several reasons.

-It's not as touristy-popular like Santorini or Crete, which means fewer crowds-that always makes me smile.
-At the village of Pythagoreio there's this ancient, old world charm, and yet, the nightlife is amazing, and it's just so cool how the two worlds of old and new coexist.
-I have family there! I guess that doesn't help you!
-I just remember how awesome it is when you fly there from Athens--the commuter plane flies so low it seems like you can see straight to the ocean floor and touch it. It's magical. Brings tears to my eyes!

Those would be MY reasons, but I can't complain, all the islands are beautiful for their own reasons. I actually prefer the Aegean Islands to the ones in the Ionian Sea. They just seem prettier. But to be fair, Corfu, which is in the northern Ionian, is a lovely green mountainous island and it's special to me for other reasons. I don't think it's as much as a popular tourist destination as the Aegean Islands. It's still beautiful and the beaches are more sandy, whereas the Aegean beaches tend to be a little rockier.

Wherever you go, have tons of fun!! Wish I was going!

Without doubt my island Rhodes...First of all it is world heritage city.
Second, it is one of the most important islands in the world, combining the west with the eastern civi;lisation. The valley of the butterflies, the famous medieval city, the castle of th Knights, the aquarium, the magnificent beaches with the waters with 3 colours, the new city, the italian buldings and civilisation....It is o different from the other islands which have a specific style with white houses...Rhodes has a cosmopolitic life...I dont change it with anyone other place in Greece....

Why don't you drop the islands and try something totally new - mainland Greece, particularly northern Greece. Off the tourist track and with loads of interesting stuff to see, plus the countries best beaches.

Skopelos is very beautiful! It is filled with trees which grows almost next to the sea and that makes the beaches .... breathtakingly wonderfull.. It has many tourists but not like Santorini or Rhodes.
On the other hand, ( if you are looking for something more quiet ) I 've been to Patmos and I was surprised ! Its so calm ... Although it has tourists too , there are no... drunken teenagers ... you know . Its dry and it has many small beaches.

As you can clearly see everyone has their own favorite, so it would be hard to tell you anything that is so subjective. However, having sailed many of them I will testify that each island has its own beauty and charm. As yet, I have not been to a Greek island I haven't liked. (They say there are about 185 of them inhabited both by Greeks and barbarians)

Have you been to Cypress?.... it is not actually in Greece, but they speak Greek and it is the most fascinating place I've ever been to.

Nicosia is a modern-day Berlin, with a wall between the Turkish and Greek sides.

It is everything... beautiful and touristy, yet political, cultural, historical. Somewhat remote, yet close to everything
