Well, you can make lots of acquaintances but few true friends in life. I have many acquaintances but very few people I can tell anything to, feel totally accepted with, and trust completely.
It takes time, but you'll know when you meet the person, there will be an instant rapport and a very comfortable feeling. Good luck. I don't know you well enough to know if we would be good friends, so the only thing I can say is that you should get to know the people you have an instant connection with, and see where that takes you.

So...make one? The internet is full of penpal services, forums, and chat products. You can also use a networking tool like Myspace or Friendster to find people who live near you and share your interests.
Try to have friends in real life, though, not just online...you'll be much more satisfied.
