1 thing i dont get.

people always say he scored 50+games, and 81 because he ball hogs right?

i was watching Laker-Blazers game a few months ago when he got 65 points.

it showed a 50+ point history of all NBA history.

Chamberlian-30+ 50point games
MJ-6 50point games
Kobe 4-5 50point games
.....

Chamberlain scored 100 points, and took around 40+shots.

why is kobe a ball hog and chamberlain not?

why is he a ball hog for getting 1-2 assists less?

Why is he a ball hog for taking 2-5 shots more?

why is he hated cuz he is a rapist?
does that affect anything?( kobe haters only used this to stop jealousy of him)

dude, thats just BS. wilt had 25+ rebounds and blocked shots? thats impossible.

and you say there is no offense, and he just takes a shot. i wonder why....

and the whole team added together has a worse shootng % than Kobe alone. the rest of the team cant shot, so... lets give it to kwame brown instead and get the game done. will that work?

btw, kobe's shooting % is not bad.

and about the rape.
it was the woman that dropped the case, it said something about she lying and she dropped it.

how is kobe suppose to let the team do the work when he has a cheap supporting cast?
personally, i think lamar odom kinda sucks.

if u were the best player ever and i give you a team that shoots 20% and shoots 47%( kwame brown) from the freel throw line, i would think u should take the shots.

bill russell was a winner in grade school, high school, college and the nba....maybe its because he belongs to the era long time past but these people who think of others as the greatest never bother to look up russell's winning accomplishments.... ..and remember michael jordan did not win his first title until he was six years in the league and bird, magic and kareem were fading or away from the battles....11 rings in 13 nba campaigns says it all and he even played in 12 finals and most experts agree that the celtics would've won 10 championships in a row had russell not been hurt in his sophomore season..... and remember this too he achieved this feat during the era of the great wilt chamberlain who played him so many times and became good friends and joked to his mother when he would have russell over for thanksgiving that did she have to feed bill so well? :)....no player ever has ever achieved 12 finals in 13 seasons and to say no one will ever again is a safe bet....being great should never be about personal records, flashy plays, or scoring many points...it should be about winning and there is no bigger winner than the great Bill Russell

If you would have watched that special on wilt chamberlin a few years back you would have seen how hated he was. First off wilt was a ball hog but he was a physical speciman playing on a team that wouldnt have on player besides him succeeding in the NBA today. Wilt also does much more than Kobe. Wilt blocked everything that came his way score way more 50 pt games, and score 100 freakin points in one game! Not to mention he was an incredible rebounder. Jordan is Jordan thas all i need to say. Why does kobe put up 60 and win by two?? Is that possible with Kobe it is. You are lookin at paper seeing 5 assist per game but that doesnt really show the games where he passes the ball to a wide open player and they make the basket. thats weak. Take someone like tmac who can drop 45 pts 10 assist and 8 rebs in a blowout win. That is a real player who can do that. As much as i hate lebron he does basically the same thing. Kobe is one dimensional. look at the playoffs hes like 20 sumthin in all time ppg in playoffs. Jordan leads off then AI then Tmac then some other great players. Some player he is. Kobe likes to get sick on players he is way better than, players who cant keep up with him. He doesnt drop 50 on Lebron or Tmac or Melo or Carter or any top SG/SF. Hes no real threat because he can score all he wants but is team is never involved so other teams can stay in games. Imagine if kobe got his team involved the first 2 quarters then went ridculous in the 4th quarter. Teams couldnt hang and would be forced to change ther gameplan against. He is one of the only players that can drop 60 points and not be doubled or change the way a defense is played. Kobe is good but he just doesnt play to win in my eyes he lives for the points.

Actually, you have your stats wrong. Chamberlain had 45 games where he scored 50+ points in 1961-1962 (he also did it 30 times in 1962-1963). And he actually was 36-63 for his 100 point game (for a 57% FG). Considering he shot 32 free throws, that probably means that 16 of his misses resulted in 2 free throws because he was fouled so hard - for the record he was 28-32 for 87%. Oh, yeah, he also had 25 rebounds. Since they didn't keep offensive rebounds as an official stat then, how many of those he got and immediately put back is a mystery. We won't know how many assists, steals or blocked shots he had either; they weren't kept.

If you know anything about NBA history, Chamberlain WAS accused of being a ball hog. Never mind that he led the NBA in rebounding 11 times and even led in assists one year. Blocked shots weren't kept then, but there were assistants who kept such things and it was said that one assistant stopped counting the blocked shots at 25 one game.

Kobe is a ball hog for a much different reason. Even though he played guard for the Harlem Globetrotters, Chamberlain never did play guard in the NBA. Kobe does. I've watched too many games where Kobe just comes down the floor with the ball, dribbles around and then launches one. No passes, no offense, just a shot. Why is he a ball hot for getting 1-2 assists less? Because he has a lot of opportunities to get assists and doesn't take them. Why is he a ball hog for taking 2-5 shots more? Because he doesn't shoot a good percentage. (He'd shoot a higher percentage if he passed to his teammates more) One stat that you left out is that he turns the ball over at a much higher rate.

And, you ask "Why is he hated cuz he is a rapist?", which has to be one of the dumbest questions EVER. There are sex offenders websites all over the internet. There are communities trying to ban any sex offenders from living in them. Do you REALLY not understand why he's hated for this? (SheilaS - it wasn't the defendant that dropped the charges. Kobe's lawyers saw where the case was going and plea bargained and settled out of court. If Kobe had been convicted he'd have served a mandatory jail sentence because that's Colorado's law)

Finally, you ask "Does that affect anything?". Yes, definitely. It affects everything. If you can't trust your teammates, you won't play as a team. Five great players will get beat by a great team EVERY time.

I personally dont hate Kobe but I really dont care for his attitude and he needs to learn when to get his team involved. I do not hate him for his game. I feel as of right now he is the man skillwise and that will draw comparisons to MJ.

Michael Jordan's teammate gave a beautiful break down of Kobe vs Jordan. Kobe seems to be have better ball handling skills and downtown shooting ability. Creativity and athleticism they are about the same. Jordan was better team playa and he had better game management.

There is an art to being a ball hog. Every team needs one at some time or another. At critical points in the game the ball hog must make good decisions. If I research correctly the Lakers averaged 103 ppg during the regular season. I can live with that on offense so next we need to look at team defense, chemistry and rebounds. I often say the team who plays the smartest most time wins.

I don't know if this is a fair question or not but lets take Kobe right now and put him in the place of Jordan on Bull's team when they were winning championships? How would the Bull fair?

Now why if I can't stand Kobe does it mean I have to get a life? Remember he is the one behind the destruction of the Lakers. He couldn't stand to not be in the constant spotlight. How better to get yourself noticed than by destroying chemistry on the team that was getting to the finals at will, then having the team retool. that way 5 years down the road you look like the savior of the Lakers. Too bad that isn't going to happen. Watch to see if the Lakers try to get Garnet in the off season. This will prove that the Lakers do not think that Kobe is the great player he made himself to be. Is he a good player, yes. He may even be a great one, but the best players in the league are the ones that make the others around them raise their own games up to the next level.

Wilt was a center the guard is suppose to get the ball in to the big man, he can't do it all by himself, he is not a gun or ball hog he is a greedy cannon.

he is a great player but he will never win a championship by himself. he needs a center or power forward to do it at least. as MJ.

Many times Kobe has three players guarding him, yeah he is good to score like that but he has two NBA level players open when that occurs. He is cannon and gun that shoots anytime it is loaded. he doesn't get his team involved in the game, that is what a leader does, he makes marginal players better. he gets everyone into the game and playing there best. Kobe is no leader. Wilt and Jordan were. Shaq left because he saw the Lakers were leaning toward Kobe being the leader and Shaq knew he was stupid.

Time Kobe got in trouble he started sbnitchin on other NBA players, like that made it ok that he done what he done, he instantly threw Shaq under the bus. Some leader.

He should have never messed with that girl esp. going at it with her raw, (no protection) consensual or not, he is very stupid. She had sex with at least two other guys and never even washed or changed her panties, stank a@@. He could've caught a disease from her.

as much money as he has he could have flown in some top notch pro from Vegas or something, if he was that horny. he is really stupid....

You know when he scored 65 against the Raptors, first thing I said he's a ball hog. When I found out they were down by 16 I realized he's not a ball hog his supporting cast suck he had to score that many to win. My whole attitude change, he needs help I to think Lamar Odom sucks, he had potiet but for some reason he doesn't come though.

My opinion i think it is all bs, because he is one of the greatest players in history, the only reason he is a ball hog is because he has to, some one else on the team needs to step up. All the other teams like miami and dallas and phoenix has all all-star players. They can do without a couple of players. Lamar odom has a 1 in every 3 good games.

You are absolutely right. First I'll start with the rape case. He wasn't even convicted of rape. The stupid witness dropped the charges because she did not want to go on the stand and lie to the entire court. Second off, he is critisized a lot for being a ball hog, and yet makes amazing points. The ball hog thing has gotten better though over the last year, because his assist rates are up by a lot and he is still shooting amazing.

Man kobe is not a ball hog. The players around him are not doing what it is they were brought in to do and thats to SUPPORT kobe. Kobe has to have fifty point games just so the Lakers have a chance
