80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Wow... a lot of people ask this question here. It gets annoying... no offense. Just go up in the Search box, and key, "What is the meaning of life?" and i guarentee you that many questions like this will come up. Then, you can have all the answers to your question.
My veiw: Life= you are born, then you go to school, graduate, get into college, get a job, work, work some more, get married, have kids, work some more, send ur kids off to college, work some more, get old, work some more, retire, baby sit your grand children, then get even older, and then simply die.
sucks doesn't it?

Well, the meaning of life can not be put into simple words, a simple paragraph, or a simple answer, for that matter. I suppose you could say that it begins with existence, but then again, you don't live to exist, you exist to live.
Well, here's what I came up with.
There is no simple meaning of life, however, life is what you make of it. I suppose that you can bring meaning to life...in a sense. You see, life can pass by within the blink of an eye. However, it's not the span of your life, but what you do to fill your life with meaning.

Life is the sum of our experiences, we create an image of life, we create a world, may it be happy or sad.
You can look at life with different perspectives.
If you look at life in general, you think of your dreams, your emotions, you look at your past at it teaches you. You look at your present at it tells you to live, enjoy and value each moment even if it's bad. You look at the future and it amuses and excites you, or it depresses you according to how you're living the present. You create your future with your free will based on a path that God lays there for you.
Life is a path, a journey where you have ups and downs, rewards and lessons, good times and not so good ones.
Everyday that passes is a new beginning to change your life, your world, they way you see it, not the way people put it to you. Not even your parents.
The reason to live, is to trascend, to be happy, and to fill your life full of emotions and experiences.
Life is what we make of it, make the most of it. Look around you, what do you see? You see action, you see movement bla bla bla etc etc.
Do what you love, love what you do and the world will come to you- ;

The meaning of life is in effort, to find the meaning of life, then to follow that to it's conclusion.
Or, my favorite:
To learn. When one has nothing left to learn, they die.
Oh! And like the hypercomputer, Deep Thought said, "The answer to Life is 42." Or, something like that, anyway.

LIFE to me= ups and downs , taking the good with the bad, the right and the wrong....learning to live each day as though i may not have another...taking one day at a time...learning from my mistakes...running in the rain..watching the sun set, looking into the eyes of my children..hearing them say 'i love you mom'...having the pleasure of having a job i love, a house that keeps me warm...food that sustains me..a healthy body to preform my duties as a person, a big heart to love people who dont deserve it..to forgive those whos hurt me...to give to those who need it more then me, to remember that i only have ONE life..and i want to live it..and love it..and be thankful for it...THANK U GOD...for my life..
life is what u make of it...i prefer to look at my glass as half full rather then half empty.. TOO many people spend so much of there life wishing and wanting things they dont have that they dont see the things that they do have in front of them..

I think the true meaning of life is actually discovering at the end of life, what the true meaning of life was.

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.
I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.
You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.
The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us.
