There has been outrage for months over the war. The difference is that when you are in the military and are in war you wake up planning to die because you know that it's a possibility. When those students went to class I'm pretty sure they were not planning on dying. If somebody killed everyone in your family tonight would you say oh it's no big deal we have men dying in Iraq? I think not.

the men who are killed in Iraq know that their lives are in danger and that any minute they could be harmed loose a friend or loose their own life, its a huge deal dont get me wrong my brother is there now. I'm part of a huge military family with a few members in each branch and it breaks my heart to learn about another death over there. But the difference between loosing a life in Iraq and those who lost or almost lost their lives at the college is that those in Iraq know that where they are going is very hostile, and that they could loose there life at any giving moment, but they are trained to know how to deal with and survive most situations not only that but they signed up for the military and gave their word that they would die for this country. Those at the college had no clue that their lives were in any danger, they did not sign up to take a bullet or possibly die, and they felt like they were in a safe environment. Losing lives is almost and sadly expected in Iraq but in a college campus in America that is not a war zone is very unpredictable .

that is war and yeah it is a horrible thing, we dont all agree w/ this fight that our country is battling. But yesterday's shooting has created such an outrage b/c this innocent people were in a class room, performing their daily routines, learning, and suddenly some psycho came in and killed them...we are talking about one person killing so many people, and nobody even knows why he did it... yeah war sucks, and it's terrible that all those men are dying, but most of them signed up for the army, and that in a way is a soldier's duty. It is really scary to think that you, a friend of yours, or a family member could be any where feeling safe as usual, and in a matter of minutes that person is dead just because someone had a gun and felt like killing them...

That is a war, where people know they are walking into the line of fire. Any individual in the military knows the risk he or she takes when they put on that uniform and every day they spend in combat, that's their job. Those kids murdered at Virginia tech were learning, enjoying the comforts that the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines provide for them, and they were ruthlessly gunned down by a pistol wielding lunatic. No kid deserves to be killed, especially not like that. Just because death happens, doesn't make it right.

This is dealing with a college campus, where everyday innocent kids are killed for no reason. War however, you go into taking into account the risks of possibly dying. These college kids have their whole lives ahead of them and are killed in shootings for absolutely no reason. That's the outrage.

You are insensitive and apparently retarded. Men & women who chose a profession in the armed forces are fully aware that they will be exposed to such risks - as sad as it is. College students didn't sign up for this risk.

Man are you daft.

It is hardly the same. There is a slight difference between going to war and going to college.

This was at home and one person. These people weren't fighting a war knowing they may die any time.
