I've been on Apri (Desogen) for about 4 years. I was wondering if anyone knew how long you need to be off of it before you can get pregnant?
Also how do you know if you're late do to hormonal changes or if you should take a pregnancy test? I'm late but I don't know how late I should be before I consider taking a test.

Haha. My Dr. told me I could get pregnant immediately after going off the pill. I didn't believe her, so went off them a little sooner than we wanted to get pregnant. That's why I have a ten-month-old crawling through all my cupboards right now, and not a six-month old! Have fun, it's a great experience!

Sometimes after coming off of the pill your body can go into shock so to speak and can take a while for the natural hormones to work right. That could be why your cycle is late. Also you can take a test as soon as 5 days before your missed cycle with some of the early detection tests. I don't suggest that you test that early and that you wait till the day your actual cycle is due. I wish you all the best!! Good luck!

The time it takes to conceive can vary from woman to woman after coming off BC pills. Some women its a month some its 12 months, some more!
The best time to take a HP Test is 18 days after ovulation, so 3-5 days after you period was due for most accurate results.
This can be difficult if you don't have regular cycles so if in doubt 16 days after conception.
Good luck

I had to go on birth control pills to regulate my cylce just to get pregnant....I concieved both of my kids 1 month after being off the pill....
I would wait until you are 2 weeks late, by then you would have better chances of getting an accurate result.

They suggest that you go off for it for 3 months before trying so that they can accurately date your pregnancy, You can get pregnant immediatly so you should use alternative methods of birth control until then.

It depends every person is different when trying to conceive after taking bc. If you been having unprotected sex and think that you are I would take a pregnancy test after I missed my period.

When I spoke to my doctor about this same issue. He told me that as soon as my cycles were regular my husband and I could start trying. That doesn't mean that you can't get pregnant before, but he made this suggestion.
