i emailed a seller about postage to Ireland for an xbox.
Seller is based in France(his English isn't 100%).The Listing only mentioned postage to his own Country. The reply he sent me before the sale was that it would be about 50 Euro but he just seems to have guessed this. I bought the Item but the i got Invoice after the sale said 60 Euro. Then I got an email saying that price was wrong and it would be 80 Euro.
I really want the item but don't want to pay the extra if i can avoid it. What should (or can) i do?

It is possible that he forgot to incorporate the exchange rate in the postage if he was in the wrong format. If you feel super uncomfortable about this then you can check the postage yourself - there is a calculator on there. If you arent satisfied with what you find, then renegotiate the sale with the seller and you may have to consider cencelling the sale since there are added questions. Good luck and make sure you stay within Ebay for the transaction!

Take a look at the Ebay Terms of Service but I would have thought that your contract with the Seller is at the price stated in the auction and so they should not charge you more than that.

If the price of the XBox was good in the first place perhaps you could offer him a token towards his increased cost but I personally wouldn't do more than that.

Of course, it all depends whether you're willing to lose the deal altogether! He may pull the sale if he can't get the postage he wants!

If postage to the UK wasn't mentioned in the auction, and messages state price would be "about" xxx then there's not alot you can do, as you are legally bound to buy it.
If he had said it WOULD be 50 euro, that's another matter.
I'd say ask him weight of package and how he's planning to ship, and see if they have a website with prices. If website says xxkg is 30 Euro and he wants 60, another issue, if it says 50, fair enough as he has to packange it and take it to them
I ALWAYS ask for a confirmed prince for shipping from UK to Norway BEFORE I'll consider bidding, and not a "rough estimate"

the only thing that would affect is if you leave the seller bad feedback that will effect anybody else getting the same thing done to them
