I'm making a little snuggle blanket for cats and dogs at our local shelter. The yarn calls for a 4.5mm hook, which I've started the piece with. It's pretty flat and not very soft. If I use a larger hook size will it "fluff" up my work a bit? About how much larger should I go?

It might just make it holier. You would want to use a thicker yarn to make a fluffier blanket.

I wouldn't worry about it though. Our cats enjoy the flattest, itchiest blankets!

it will make it looser not fluffier, you need to use fuzzy yarn to get fluffy and thats expensive usually.
