thats because you need a playstation 1 memory card. I dont think the 8mb memory card works with ps1 games. FF7 was my fav game of all time!

btw, if u get a ps3 u can save all ur games on the hard drive.

You need to use a PS1 memory card for PS1 games to save to, but you can copy the file to a PS2 memory card. However, you cannot have your PS1 game save or load from a PS2 memory card

You need to have PS1 memory cards to save it. Otherwise, it says that there is no memory card in the slot, even though there is but it is a PS2 stick.

a ps2 card can only save ps2 games. it can *store* ps1 data, but you cannot access it from a ps1 game

a ps1 card fits in the same slot on the ps2 as the ps2 card, and will save ps1 games.

how to tell if it's a ps1 or a ps2 game?

ps1 games are in CD cases (clear and sorta square)(and the games are actually CD discs)

ps2 games are in DVD cases (taller, and black)(as well, the games are actually DVD discs)

You'll have to go and buy a playstation1 card it may be difficult to find them now with ps3 out but you could try a pawn shop or used game store

if you have a good pc and a gamepad adapter you can use an emulator like epsxe 1.6.0 and you can save to your pc and continue like normal, save and resume. i'm re-playing castlevania symphony of the night, and played ffvii around a half dozen times... ffviii sucked
