Caesar was succeeded by a triumverate, but eventually Octavian, a distant relative, beat out the other two of the triumverate.

Octavian then changed his name to Augustus.

1. Julius Caesar dies by hand of Brutus & the Senate

2. Life of Augustus (Gaius Octavius of the Julii).

3. Tiberius threw little boys off cliffs after raping them. Died of old age or possibly murdered by Caligula.

4. Gaius Caeser Caligula (murdered by his guards)

5. Claudius (nutty Roman emporer. Poisoned by his wife Agrippina).

6. Nero (Burned Rome, killed himself. Last of the Claudio-Julii).

7. Three Caesars in succession: Galba (assassinated) , Otho (assassinated), Vitellius (assassinated) None lasted more than a few months each. With Vespasian it was the year of the 4 Caesars.

8. Vespasian. Lasted a few years. Did a lot of good. Had smelly feet and dressed himself. He also died of some kind of disinterry and diareah during a campaign abroad.

9. Titus. Good ruler. Son of Vespasian. Excellent general. Unfortunately sacked Judea and crushed the jewish rebellion. He died of a high fever and complications of an infection of some sorts.

10. Domitian. Son of Vespasian and brother of Titus. Lousy tyrant. Persecuted jews and christians, destroyed the Roman economy, debauched his way through his own family bible, and was eventually assassinated by his enemies in the Senate.

And there you have it. All 11 successors to Gaius Julius Caesar of the Julii.
