A straight line has slope 0 if it is horizontal.

The slope is 0 if the line is horizontal. If the line is vertical the slope is undefined.

Otherwise, slope is defined as: change in y / change in x
or, (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

No, it only has 0 slope if it is completely horizontal. If it is completely vertical its slope is undefined.

If it is horizontal (-------) it is 0, if it is vertical (|) you say it's 'undefined'
