no a dvd rewrite drive is comletely different than a dvd rom drive you would have to buy an external dvd rewrite drive or find one that can fit in the extra slot on your computer if its a desktop.

depends on if your DVD drive is a DVD burner as well. I had that same problem and we had to buy a burner. if you do have to but a burner we got a lg external at best but for about 80.00. the internals are cheaper but if you get one of the you have to open up the computer and this can void your warranty. But if that is not the case just look up DVD shrink and that is a free software, that will allow you to get around the copyright protection, plus it will give you a few other free ones as well. they all have instructions on using them

ROM stands for Read Only Memory, meaning dvd roms can already read, not write. you will need to purchase a separate dvd burner/writer to burn dvds. there are a lot of dvd burning softwares, some are free and some are not. you could try nero, roxio.

you need a dvd writer, your dvd-rom can only read the disks, there no software anywhere that can change that. check out www.tigerdirect.com for the best deals on anything computer related
