The universe was created approximately 15 billion years ago from a very small dense conglomerate of matter that "exploded." Well where did this matter come from? Please, only scientifc answers, I am not religious. Thanks.

You ask this question as if the matter within the total Universe came from some place external to the universe, which as we all know is not possible. Therefore, all of this matter was here before and it is entirely possible that eons ago there might have been some other configuration of Universe which just collapsed into itself.

This is a question concerning the time before theorized creation. As such it has no correct answer, only theories.
Your best bet is to study as much on the subject as you possibly can, and read the opinions of learned astronomers
on the subject. Keep in mind the idea that questions such as,
"What came before the beginning?" and "What comes after the end?" are senseless and a total waste of everyone's time. If you look carefully on Yahoo Answers you will see the same question being asked over and over again. It leads one to think that Askers never read anything before they type in a question. Could that possibly be the truth? Is there any chance that Askers do no research on their own?

There are many good search engines out there and prominant articles on almost any subject are instantly provided to the Asker when these Search Engines are activated. Having read through those referenced articles one is quickly provided with all the current information on a given subject from various points of view. Surely these responses are much more fact filled than the cursory opinion of other Grade School, High School students, or common man in the street.

Actually, there was no matter at 15 billion years ago before the big bang. I wouldn't feel bad about the mix up, since it's very common, but before the big bang there was only energy.

From here, we can try to piece some things together using known laws. From thermodynamics, energy in a system cannot be created or destroyed. The easiest way to think of it is 'stuff' that simply exists woven into the fabric of reality.

Matter formed after the big bang. From E=mc^2, we can see that mass is an equivilant to energy in another form. From this, we can imagine the matter in the universe coming from the available energy as the universe undergoes inflation and beyond!

If you still dislike the answer about energy...well, I don't know what to tell you. Where did it come from? As far as I can tell, since it can't be created or destroyed, nowhere...even though that's hard to digest. I quite like it though! That way, you don't run into the whole 'what came beforehand' situation (ex. what created god and then what created the god creator).

As for the actual big bang itself, i.e. the inflation of existing energy...we don't really know. There are several theories out there that are plausable but right now there is no concrete evidence.

The latest theory talks about a multidimensional space. You may remember the theory formally known as strings. Well, now it's a theory of membranes. Think of a string stretched out so that's like a garden hose stretched out in another dimension. The current thinking is that when two of these membranes collide, a universe forms and energy is released that eventually becomes matter. You can pick up a book by Lisa Randall that explains it. It's tough to do it here. The title starts with "Warped Passages ".

Approximately 15 billion years ago at the time of the Big Bang, the 4 Forces: (1 small atomic force, (2 large atomic force, (3 force due to gravity, (4 Electro-magnetic force were all one entity. Our understanding of "matter" is encompassed in this theory. Matter became "matter" and "anti-matter" became "anti-matter"--hence Event Horizons and Black Holes upon the division of said 4 forces.

At the instant of the Big Bang the only thing that existed was light. As the universe cooled in the first few seconds, matter started to form from the light. E=mc^2

"Let ther be light"

It is a good question. As you pointed out, all teh material (energy, matter, dark matter, dark energy) was contained in the mass that expanded in what we call the Big Bang.

However, where that material came from is a question science can't answer--and there is some reason to think may not be able to answer, even in principle. Ultimately, then, this ends up being a philosophical (not necessarily religious) question. Bear in mind not all meaningful questions (this is certainly one) can be answered by empirical means (science).

it has always been there. before time began again, a split second could be an eternity. just like falling into a black hole, you would always be falling . an observer watching a spaceship fly into a black hole will see it disappear into the black hole. If you were in the spaceship, you would always be flying into the black hole. the same second that the black hole's extreme pressure would compress the spaceship and you into the size of a grain of sand, you would cease to exist. but at that very second you would also be frozen in time, or the absence of time.at the end of time when the universe's last giant black hole swallows the last bit of matter in the universe, that black hole will have a hick-up, which will cause the next big bang.

Why does there could be a beginning up? because of the fact our fragile human minds have hassle with countless and we would desire to constantly stress a beginning up because of the fact actuality is in any different case incomprehensible? there's no reason there has to have been a "beginning up." The universe does not owe us a beginning up, and we are no longer yet completely confident the way it got here approximately - nonetheless there are countless techniques. this question does not belong interior the religion area nonetheless... you're extra valuable off asking in cosmology or quantum physics. additionally verify back back next 12 months, while CERN fires up the LHC and we would discover out how the universe got here into life. EDIT: "for my area for my area the "enormous Bang" Theroy substitute into in simple terms an explination that Einstien (a non secular Christian, btw) got here up with with the intention to describe the time while rely al of a surprising regarded in/because of the fact the universe." ok, this is absurd the lies people will have faith. Einstein substitute into no longer a christian in any attainable sense! He used the be conscious "god" metaphorically for the essential nature of the universe... people mistook this for christianity for the duration of his lifetime, which bugged the hell out of him. finally in 1941 he printed a paper the place he clarified as quickly as and for all the place he mentioned: "It substitute into, of direction, a lie what you learn my non secular convictions, a lie that's being systematically repeated. i do no longer have faith in a private God and that i've got by no ability denied this yet have expressed it of course. If some thing is in me which would be spoke of as non secular then this is the unbounded admiration for the form of the worldwide to this point as our technology can show it."" He is going directly to assert the belief of a private god is alien to him or maybe says that he unearths the theory "naive." He spoke of himself as "a deeply non secular non-believer, this is a sparkling form of religion." Einstein substitute into no longer a christian.

It was begotten it was there, but it the size SMALLER than a particle! Then the unverse inflated and the matter was unleashed. If you get the April edition of Astonomy Magizine of this year, it has an article about.
