I think its just an Oak Tree, but a woodpecker just started to build a hole in it. I need to know if its ok to just let it make its hole, or do i keep running it off until it doesnt come back?

A Woodpecker is only pecking on the tree because it has detected insects in the tree. The pecking won't kill the tree but the insects may.

Please oh please let the woodpecker be. Just as mentioned above he is getting insects from the tree. But his main purpose is to build a home as well. Woodpeckers do not peck holes in the part of a tree that is living, only the dead wood. Most people ciut the dead trees down and the Woodpeckers and others are running out of places to live. A bird hole cannot infect the tree in any way at all.

PS...I am not a tree hugger or anything....I just care about the poor birdys..Thx for reading.

One or two holes are probably ok. But sometimes woodpeckers do hundreds and thousands in the same tree and it gets infected.

BB gun, or in case you shop your place placed greater desirable pesticides interior the stain to maintain bugs away. this ought to shop the woodpeckers away. not sure if there is something which will repel the birds.
