Firstly, you might already have torn your hymen when you were a little kid, especially if you were active and ran around and climbed trees, or even if you did sports. Secondly, different women have different hymens. Some tear easily and the girl doesn't even notice (no pain, no bleeding), some are quite thick and take more effort to tear and some have to actually be cut by surgery before she can have sex normally and without pain (happened to a friend of mine, her mom had the same problem). All women are different. Thirdly, the hymen can stretch quite a bit before it tears, and since tampons are pretty small, you might not have stretched your hymen out far enough for it to tear.

It's difficult to say, but you could try using a mirror and looking at yourself to see if you can see anything torn or different. You should be doing this regularly, anyway, so you get used to your body and know if things are changing or not.

Good luck and don't stress!

Since you're asking if you have a hymen, it sounds like you're not sure where it is... A lot of girls don't know that your hymen is simply the tissue around your vaginal opening.

A hymen isn't always 100% intact or 100% broken! When you "break" it, that simply means you've torn the vaginal opening so that it's larger, which is totally natural and happens to all us girls, often the first time we have sex.

But you can tear your hymen just by exercising, or by having sex -- or when inserting a tampon, finger, or anything else. Some girls will tear their hymen a few separate times before it stops happening. And not all hymens tear the first time you have sex -- it may take a while! (Though it usually does happen your first time.)

When you tear your hymen, you'll feel some pain and probably bleed. If you didn't feel anything tearing when you put the tampon in, you didn't break your hymen.

And in case you're wondering: Even if it breaks your hymen, you can't lose your virginity to a tampon. :)

Normal Tampon use normally does not break the hymen. Usually only sex or sever trauma to the area will break it. Like falling hard on the bar of your bicycle. For example.

You could have a partial hymen, so you can use tampons but still have one. You could have already broken it before with active sports. Either way, the first time you have sex you will certainly know.

It sounds like you have your hymen still intact (meaning that it's still there). The hymen can break for a lot of reasons such as a fall, and of course sex or as in my case mine got broken by my having my first pelvic exam and pap smear at the age of 18 when a dr used a regular sized instrument called a speculum to do the exam.

It is unlikely that you broke your hymen using a tampon, but it could happen. It does not really matter if it did break using a condom or riding a horse, or anyway else, you are still a virgin until you have sex.
Good luck.

You have a hymen... It just breaks when stretched. That's what happens during sex. Even if it is already stretched out and broken, it's nothing to be worried about.

I cant really tell you whether its still thre or not, there is a good chance that you tore it since you are using tampons...it can break during sex or use of a tampon

Hymens can ONLY break through intercourse (actual penetrating sex). Try and talk to your gynecologist when you go in for your annual check-up. As a young lady you should be completely oriented about your body and how it works.

Success!

your hymen can break when you have sex for the first time if you never wear tampons. if when you put your tampon in and it didn't hurt to much it just means that your hymen is allready broken. girls who are active break usually break there's before they hit puberty. every girl has one, yours has just broken allready and you probably didn't notice. this is what happened to me too don't worry.
