i really wanna buy a bikini(i'm 16) but my parent's wont let me!! i know it's my life and i can wear anything i want to, i have a total right to that but i just cant make my parents understand that! what would u do if u are in my situation? i can't just totally ignore them and go ahead to buy it cuz i dont want them to get angry but at the same time i want them to understand that i am growing up and i want to make my own decisions!

Sorry dear, you're a MINOR and under their roof with their rules. It's not 100 percent your life and you don't have the right to wear whatever you want. Until you pay your own way and are out of their house, you are to abide by their wishes even if they do suck.
Your parents want what's best for you. And I'm assuming they don't feel it's right for a 16-year-old girl to display her goodies all over the pool.
Find something cute, but respectable and go with that. Not having a bikini isn't the end of the world.

That makes sense, you're only sixteen, and technically it's your body and you can do whatever you want to, but technically your parents can keep you from even leaving the house to go anywhere where you'd be in that bikini. Parents aren't always ridiuclous, which means this bikini may actually be scandulous (which makes sense). You don't get any "legal right to do whatever you want" until you're eighteen. And if you buy it and you sneak out, they're going to find out... somehow parents always do. Maybe buy a less revealing bathing suit.. there's nothing you can do really, they're your parents they just want what's best for you.
AND TO YOUR ADDITION:::
it's not your body your choice, not until you're eighteen, you can't go get piercings, tattoos... it's a minor's body.. which means good luck going against your parents wishes.
btw, shouting IT'S MY BODY MY CHOICE is just going to tick off your parents, and they're just going to stand firmer.

I think your old enough to choose what bathing suit you want to wear, but at least your parents are respectable, unlike some who would let their kid wear a bikini to school for all they care. Talk to them, dont just go and buy it, tell them that you are a young woman, its your body,and you should be able to choose your suit. and maybe you could agree at least to one of those little bottom cover things. If that doesnt help, I dont know what else to tell you, your still under their roof, they get the final say.

My parents did exactly the same thing to me. When I was 15 I went with my friend and she helped me look for a really nice bikini. I bought it, and after a while they got used to it. Now I don't own anything else to swim in...

Hey....I am sorry that your parents are like that. If they are understanding I would talk to them about it and tell them that you are 16 and maybe you can meet in the middle sumwhere...ask them if you can get a two piece with the shorts for the bottoms and a halter top. That covers more than a regular one.

OH NO!!! POOR YOU!! You better march right at those terrible parents and TELL them - "HEY! I have RIGHTS, and YOU can't tell me what to do - if you do, I will be a sneak and disrespect your rules anyway!" Go ahead - - do it, say exactly what you are saying here TO THEIR FACES. Yep! That will teach them once and for all that "I am growing up and want to make my own decisions". You go girl - show them how mature and respectful you are - no doubt they will be convinced you are ready to be responsible -

I know were you are coming from.
My mom wanted me to get a one-piece and I wanted to get a bikini. She was not letting me were a bikini and I refused to wear a one piece, so we agreed on a tankini. It's a two peice and covers my stomach but does not have that one peice look. If you tell you parents this, they will see that you are smart and can think on your own as well as probably allow you to get a tankini.

Bikinis show off a lot of your body and that is why your parents don't want you to have one! It would be like you wearing your underwear in public, only a different color!

Ask yourself WHY you want to buy a bikini. What's the real reason? I think if you can convince your parents that the REAL reason you want a bikini is a sound one, then they'll likely let you have one.
Likewise, ask them what the REAL reason is that they don't want you to have one.
